AGP fast write in with Omega drivers

Just wondering if anyone knows a sure fire way of trying (forcing?) out fast write on an x800pro using the latest omega drivers? The motherboard does not have an option for fast write in the bios (an abit as8), it is supposed to be activated automatically when the chipset drivers are installed acording to abit, i cant confirm that it is active but it is reported as supported but disabled by furturemark system info, and when i try and activate it under the smartgart tab of the omega drivers by hitting reset all it gets set to on for a fraction of a secont and then i get a reboot request and the settings are switched off after.

P.S thanks for all the help i have had from the members of these bords and for the great drivers

Thanks for the quick reply bAKe, could it be because i have used the latest ones that are possibley still beta that the option does not show up when i reinstall the omega drivers from the start meneue? Yes i have read mixed results with it off, it seems to be that on the 9800 it is definatly a bad thing but on the x800 a fair few have said it has improved their benchmark scores, and as i am getting abysmal results in some apps (but very good in others) i was hoping to see if it made a difference.

I know on my Abit NF7-s to enable fastwrites I had to turn off side-band addressing in the bios. To get both enabled simultaniously I found a solution in the Abit forums it involves using WPCREDIT and WPCRSET to make the change permanent.

If your dead set on getting both working I'd suggest looking on thier forums for a possible solution, or ask there, if possible I'm sure someone has probably done it

I'd also recommend running a few benchies to seriously test your system's stability before using WPCRSET. As others have mentioned the gains are relatively small but personally satisfying none the less

Many thanks for the replies guys, i managed to get the fatst writes enabled by changing to the ATI drivers fom the omega drivers. it knocked about 22% of my 3dmark so i will be changing back as soon as i can work out how to get the vi bit of the cards vivo working with the omega drivers .

Edit

It is now working fine again and the benchmark is back up to where it was before using the catalyst drivers. strange that the omega wont alwow fast writes but not a problem concidering how effective the optimisations are.
