First off, let me say that this is the first time since the initial release of CCC that I have used it. I've always just installed the old CP until now. I decided, with the release of the 4.12b drivers, that I would start using the new CCC and forget about the old CP forever.

With the 4.12b release, I have not had any instabilities or crashes at all. I guess I'm lucky with that. I installed both the drivers and CCC from the link to the beta's. I 'custom' installed the drivers without the old CP, then installed the CCC from that same link. Of course I used DriverCleaner after uninstalling the 4.9's.

I only encountered 3 problems thus far (well....one 'problem', two annoyances).

Problem: I tried to create 2 profiles; 1 for 'Normal Mode" and one for "Bench Mode".
Profile #1- Normal Mode = all options at the Quality setting, 4X AA, 8X AF, AI at normal......you know, normal, how I play my games.
Profile #2- Bench Mode = everything set to Performance/App Pref or off. Just to bench my system against previous drivers. (haven't actually done that yet )

I keep the TruForm setting off in both cases ever since I got rid of the 8500, since no other card had TruForm in hardware, I figure it's basically a useless option.

The profile I created for "Normal Mode" seems to work fine, the one I created for "Bench Mode" does not. It changes nothing for some reason. I have to manually change all those settings to run in 'Bench Mode'.

I should probably report it to ATI, but it's a beta driver, so........

Annoyance #1: I want SEPERATE settings for D3D and OGL, not that conglomerated settings that CCC currently has. I tend to run slightly different settings for D3D and OGL and now I'm FORCED to run them at the same settings. This isn't really that big a deal, but this is the thread to whine about it, now ain't it?

Annoyance #2: Upon a cold boot-up, there is a long pause during the bootup sequence that was never there before the installation of CCC. It goes to the Windows screen with the little bar scrolling across, then to a black screen and pauses there for about 5-10 seconds before going on to desktop.
This used to be a 1-3 second pause at best, it has more than tripled.
Again, not really a big deal, just an annoyance.

As far as the whole .NET argument......well......whatever, ATI using .NET to make CCC doesn't bother me in the least. Heck, at least now, there is something in my PC that actually USES .NET.

All in all, I'm fairly pleased with CCC. It has matured quite a bit since that very first release. Other than my 3 complaints that I would like to see fixed/improved, it works fine for me.

There's my 2 cents, don't spend it all in one place.
