FX5200 beats radeon 9700 pro at NFSU2 (HELP)

Can someone explain that please? Im getting huge fps lag, sometimes it drops to 15, while my friend, under the same configuration using a cheat fx5200 gets 55..... and drops to 25 only ...
He gets more fps everywhere using the same graphic config....

my computer is a xp2100 @stock, 512 ddr 333, radeon 9700pro bba, lastest omega (beta 4.10)

does anyone know of a fix or something? there must be something wrong with ati drivers, or Ill have to buy a fx5200 to play the game.....

thanks

In the demo with my 9700pro I ran 1200 x 900 with 2x AA and 8 x AF, with most options in-game set to highest (I didn't like the contrast and motion blur)

I got very smooth gameplay, not sure of the exact framerate, but it was plenty fast.

You need to give a LOT more info about your system and Omega driver CP settings before anyone can help you at all though.

Just list all the settings and what they are set at.

I would uninstall drivers and use drivercleaner in safemode- them reinstall your drivers. You should get playable framerates with those settings no problem.

I've already done that...
I get playable framerates, but sometimes it almost freezes... specially on "URL" races, and my friend who has a fx 5200 gets 25 while Im getting 11..... and its not an isolated problem Ive heard. I've found some other topics about this same problem and another friend of mine who has a x800 is also having issues. I dont know where to look for answers anymore.

Also- he never said what resolution. he never said how he measured framerate either. I also would like to see the links to the other people with 9700pro's having problems, maybe they found a problem. My 9700pro runs that game great.

Try turning off AI- I don't use it and it works fine.

I've also noticed that my friend's voice was cut on TS while I played nfsu2, what didnt happen with NFSU1, I was wondering if the processor, ram, or something messing up with my memory could be causing this problem, since its not a game slowdown, but a whole system slowdown

Go into advanced graphic settings and read out your settings please. You have 512 meg of ram, you might need to lower some of the world detail settings etc.

Ive tested this game with a 9700 pro and it coped adequately, but you cannot MAX everything in game otherwise you get issues. The 5200 is a MUCH inferior card to the 9700 pro so we need to start looking into your system configuration.

Firstly you need to make sure there is not a rogue driver on your system.

How old is your windows OS.
Have you tried with ATI 4.11 drivers ? (not omegas).
Have you tried with CP and CCC?
Have you turned off Cat AI if you are using it?
Have you any processes hogging system time like steam? hit control alt delete at idle, note if anything is taking CPU time.
Have you checked if Anti Aliasing and AF texturing filtering is off, both in your driver and in the advanced game settings? (if you are going to use either use it from the game advanced settings not the ATI driver panel).

go to start/run/ type in dxdiag, save ALL information to the text file, copy and paste it in here.

thats all I can think of.... lastest VIA chipset driver.... thats it I guess....

I havent tried 4.11, I was waiting on omega to release something new, since his driver's always worked fine. I've turned off everything I can running on my background, no steam, no nothing, I've even turned off antivirus and everything.... and I've tried both, AI on and off. AA and AF are program preference... so I dont know either its on and off.....
But there is something weird.... I get more fps in 1024 than 800x600.. I dont know what it might be, I think its the driver compatibility... since NFSU1 had just as much visual as this one and I could run it maxed out with no lag at all.

Are you SURE vsync is OFF? You should list all the in game gfx settings too- I mean you system isn't super fast, but you should be able to run most settings at least high, but not maxed out--

Same card ran the game very fast with same drivers as you are using on my system, and I've had Windows installed since August 03'..

I'm still waiting for all those other users having problems link...

Seriously you may be able to find out what the problem is by reading all their posts, maybe one of them found a certain setting that puts the system mem usage over the top for a 512mb system..

It is certainly a problem with your system because same card/drivers amazed me on my system, I couldn't believe how much eye candy I could turn on @ 1200 x 900 (all settings maxed but the 2 I mentioned earlier)

Try running without sound? ....you never did mention sound card/drivers

its onboard, AC'97 from my epox 8k5a2+
and the link is www.need4speed.com.br/forum

I've also found another 1 member or 2 complaining about the same thing here, but didnt write it down, so check that other forum and you'll see people complaining. They're just as lost as I am, the game is new and they are mostly kids from brazil who just wanna play and not get worried if the videocard that they paid 3 times more than the price in the US, needs a fix or not. Thats why Im here, I've been folowing my videocard progress since the beggining and I know there's something wrong with it.

So you think there is something wrong with your card? Like it is defective? I guess that is possible, but I can tell you right now a healthy 9700pro is more than enough to run NFSU2. It just is, maybe your system needs a lot of tweaking or more ram..

I'd bet my car that there is no 5200 on the planet that will beat me 9700pro.. it just is not going to happen, ever.

also check for spyware etc, and maybe a full virus scan (viruses that load on startup dont get detected by virus scanners unless a full scan is done)

it could be a bit of hidden software slowing you down.

btw now youve told us your setup, tell us your friends exact setup

maybe the 5200 with that kind of eye candy on makes disable some features, it happened with me on my old gf4mx440 it used to turn off AA settings sometimes just because it couldnt handle that much charge on it, have u check if he has exactly the same configuration in the game as you do?

dont know if u tried this

backup ur profiles if you need to
uninstall reinstall the game and the drivers
absolutely crank down all settings on ur vid card and in the game
then test it, if you get proper performance, starting re-enabling settings, cranking other settings up and up. you might reach the point where your system starts screwing up the game. omega drivers are great, but for now use the latest catalysts when you do this. the job sounds tedious but might work

Im trying 4.12 right now, seems to work better, I get 18 fps instead of 15 lol. Ive also gained 35 3dmark03 points... never thought catalyst would beat omega....
Since i've finished the game and Im only racing circuits, there is no hurry in fixing this anymore, I can play on 25 fps... Ill be changing my ram, processor and mobo next month, if that doesnt fix it Ill buy a cheap fx5200 just for the game..
hopefully one of those catalys beta testers will end up facing one of these NFSU2 "URL RACES" and wonder why the hell he's getting only 20 fps when he should be getting at least 40

Wow, haven't you heard anything we have said? it IS NOT your video card that is the problem. Go get a 5200 and then you will see how slow they are compared to a 9700pro.

Also you did not list what settings in-game you were using or what settings your Friend was using. That makes a huge difference. It is probably the slow system slowing you down, not the video card.

Ok BWX, for the 3rd or 4th time.... SAME CONFIG! We were on phone comparing the FPS we both got on SAME CONFIG of course.... jesus... is anyone so stupid to come here and complain about different fps with DIFFERENT CONFIGS ? Give me a break.
And I never said FX5200 is FASTER than radeon, but works better with NFSU2! Now we both know you cant help me right ? So why comming here asking the same questions everytime, Ive been answer the same f* questions for 3 days or so ! My friend has exactly the same machine I do, as we bought it from the same person with the same configuration..... the only difference is the videocard.... I got a radeon9700pro and he got a fx5200.... same in game configurations.....
Its not heat, its not virus, its not some trojan or some stupid hidden program eating my memory, its just my videocard, wich is not f* defective or it would not be working with other games too !!!!!!, its my videocard, the game, and the driver... period.... now if noone can help me, as I said on that catalys post: THATS FINE! I cant expect people to know what the hell is going on with MY machine, I was just looking for simple answers like: "Oh, there's a driver issue thats being fixed" or "Oh we didnt know that, we'll check it out"...
Msgs like "Its running smooth on my machine" or "have you instaled the patch" wont f* help ! Ppl that come here are looking for advanced answers for hard solving problems..... THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO TRIED TO HELP, but dont treat me like a f* stupid paranoid who cant use hijackthis, or even hit CTRL ALT DEL and check what is running in the background......
And stop making the same f* questions please... You've asked 3 times for that link to other ppl complaining.... I gave you that link and you kept asking for it !!!!

Sorry about this, but noone is obligated to answer a post, noone is obligated to help, if you dont want or cant help, thats really ok to me, but quit doing that, its so annoying.

TH

Sorry about this, but noone is obligated to answer a post, noone is obligated to help, if you dont want or cant help, thats really ok to me, but quit doing that, its so annoying.
LMAO You still haven't supplied the IN-GAME settings- saying that they are the same does not tell us anything.

I see, you just want to say that the 5200 beats the 9700pro, I get it now, you don't want help.. I can understand your frustration because people are trying to help.

You linked to a non-english website, that's it- I saw nothing there like what you described.

nuG is on a distinguished road

okay i have a 2.53ghz pentium 4 with 1 gb of dddr333 and a 9700pro. my system looks to be a little better tha yours but not by much and i have EVERYTHING maxed except no AA or AF at 1280x1024. So all these problems that are supposed to be 9700pro related, i have none. why dont you try contacting NFSU2 customer support instead of bitchoing people out that dont get paid to try and help you and are just trying from the goodness of their hearts? okay? okay now back to NFSU2.......my car is so purdy
