Error with textures on an ATI Radeon Mobility 9000
Hey guys,
I just installed the OmegaDrivers 25.90 for Ati Radeon cards (I checked, mine is supported). It seems to work fine, except I get this really weird error in UT2004 (I'm running on D3D). Some of the textures seem really sort of blocky and stretched, but only at a distance. When I get up close they turn normal. It's like it's to do with mipmapping or something similar (that's just a guess). It all worked fine with my previous drivers, which were regular ATI ones. If anyone could help me out I'd be really appreciative - I've heard these drivers are really good and I'd love to get them working properly. Thanks in advance, I hope someone can help ![]() Heish PS: Im sorry if this has been posted before, I couldn't find any information on it. |

I'm bumping this because I am having the same problem with the same video card. I read somewhere else on this site that installing the drivers based on the 4.8 catalyst drivers MAY work. I'm gonna test that when I get the chance in about 3 hours. If that does not work, I really don't know what I could do. Any help would be appreciated.

I have found that the Omega 2544 version drivers fix those texture corruption problems. Its performance isn't as great as the more recent drivers because it is based on the 4.5 catalyst, but there are no graphical glitches. Hope that helps anyone else with this problem.

Well, now EQ2 has messed up colors for all of its textures now =/ But HL2 runs fine, so far...
Sigh, I hope the new Omega drivers come out soon so that they may fix it the problem. BTW, I am running a 3.06 GHz P4 with HT on, 1 gig of corsair DDR 400 MHz ram, and a Radeon Mobile 9000 with 128 MB ram |

I messed around with more settings with the latest omega driver. If I turn OFF compressed textures or disable support of DXT texture formats (same thing;name depended on driver) in the direct 3D settings, it gets rid of the texture problems with the recent direct x games. However, it causes a severe drop in fps (from 50 to about 15) and increases load time as well as cause some system instability. I think this is just an issue with the ati 9000 mobility cards, but not sure. Does anyone know of other drivers or settings that will let me run all of my games without graphical glitches or horrible performance?

I have done some more testing and found that turning on smoothvision helps to fix some of the textures, not all, but it creates a major performance hit. I have even dried patje's modded 4.11 files, but still nothing works.
