official 4.12b's screwed stuff up
ok, i just wanted to report this more than get a fix, i already know i should just re-install windows.
whenever i played HL2 i would get badly glitched, yet colorfull, graphics. so i turned off AI, then my monitor did the thing where it goes into standby and VPU recover dosn't kick in. so i reverted to the 4.11's and used the CCC, now instead of going into standby my monitor randomly comes up with an error that says "please check pc display settings" now this is a monitor warning, not a windows warning. again, vpu recover doesn't do anything. i've had similar problems before and fixed them with 4x apg. i did that and now my pc crashes to the monitor error everytime i leave a game. now i'm running the 2.5.90 omega's and i still have the problem with those. i ran drivercleaner prior to each new install. a friend of mine is having the same problems with his AMD system and his 9800Pro. i'm using my 9550XT.

try to install the motherboard chipset drivers AND install your monitors drivers as well.....and make sure you completely remove any and all previous driver installation before installing a new set....

ALWAYS when Installing new or changing drivers
1. Uninstall, remove control panel, etc 2. Reboot into safe mode 3. Run Driver cleaner and unplug your cable modem 4. Reboot normally, install the new drivers, reboot 5. Plug Modem Back In |

i did it that way, and i did forget about installing my chipset drivers again, i just did so and am going to go try it out.
well, didn't work, it actually froze the instant i got in game instead of randomly. so now i'm trying to re-install windows, but it's frozen...so i'm gonna have to format. i'm lucky i had two partitions, one for windows and one for data.
