Video playback problem

Running Catalyst 4.12 modded by patje. I'm currently seeing video playback problems on with Windows Media Player and PowerDVD. With all formats.

P4 3 GHz 800 FSB
1 GB RAM
7200 RPM HD
Mobile Radeon 9600 Pro
Catalyst 4.12

Funny thing is, I disable DirectDraw in "dxdiag" which also disables Direct 3D acceleration at the same time. All is well. This shouldn't be a problem with Direct X though because with older sets of Catalyst drivers video playback is fine.

Try upgrading your WMP to 10 to see if that helps. Welcome to Dh.

???

I`m having exactly the same problem.

I have a ATI Raedon Mobility 9700 with 128MB and after installing the v4.12 beta drivers, although the games are fine, my dvd / video playback is very jerky and it stutters bigtime. I did disable directdraw as the previous member has suggested and this does work, but is there any other way around this problem.

Surely someone has a solution.

Regards,

Jez

For some of us (particularly those of us running a Clevo-based laptop such as Sager, Eurocomm, etc.) the fix is a BIOS upgrade. The flash fixes an overlay problem.

Hmm I don't think there are any BIOS updates for my laptop. It's a Hypersonic.
