TV on OMEGA soft-modded 9800SE?

I just got a PowerColor Radeon 9800SE AIW (my old 9700 got fried, but that's another story), and first I installed the ATI catalyst drivers. The TV tuner worked just fine, remote control and the lot.
So I decided to try to soft-mod the card, see if it worked, and just generally see if there was any significant difference. Well, my 3DMark2001 score went up by about 3500 points, so thank you Omega! But, whatever I do, I can't get the TV tuner working with the Omega drivers. I've reinstalled a hundred times, doing everything just as the instructions say (and in every other way I can imagine), but still it won't work.
I can of course live without the tuner, but then I've wasted about $50...
So, does anyone know a way I can make it work? I don't care how hard it is, I'll be happy if it works...

you'll need to reinstall MMC after softmodding ti and it should work fine

I'm afraid it wasn't that easy...
When Windows boots I'm told that windows has found new hardware, and wants to install drivers for it. This message is repeated 6 times, but neither I nor windows are able to find any drivers that fit these things (whatever they are, I don't know). All I know is that they are on the gfx card, but they are only listed as "unknown unit"... After thoroughly searching ATI's install-instructions, I found this page, where it says that after installing the WDM capture driver (which I have), windows should find these 5 units after rebooting:
ATI WDM Rage Theatre Audio
ATI WDM Rage Theatre Video
ATI WDM Specialized PCD Codec
ATI WDM TV Audio Crossbar
ATI WDM TV Tuner
I would guess these are my unknown units, but what is the sixth, and why doesn't windows recognize them?

So, the status right now is this:
-SoftMod working perfectly
-no TV tuner
-six unknown units with no drivers that fit
-MMC working, except for the TV part

you said the tv tuner works without softmodding?

if so perhaps there's an incompatibility somehwre and you can't softmod AIWs?...I don't see why you couldn't...but it's a possibility

Try also re-installing the WDM file for the version of Omega's you are using...

Yes, Omega drivers don't include the WDM drivers, so you'll need to install those separately.
The sixth device is: "ATI WDM Specialized MVD Codec"

I've installed the WDM drivers every time I've installed the Omegas, both before installing the graphic drivers (as it says in the setup-thingy) and after, but it makes no difference. After reinstalling only the WDMs three times in a row now, the "found new hardware" message at windows startup is gone, but the TV tuner still doesn't work. When I look at the TV settings on the ATI Multimedia Center Configuration panel, it says "TV capture source: no default" and "Driver: (Unsupported)". So, i guess this means I'll have to reinstall the drivers every time I want to watch TV, or maybe install a second OS solely for watching TV, neither of which I would really like to (both are extremely impractical).

Have you tried: uninstalling all ATI (and Omega) drivers and software, then using Driver Cleaner to make sure it's all gone, and finally installing the drivers and software anew?

Did you do a fresh install of Windows for your new card? That would be the next step, unless this is a known Omega issue. I'll move this to the Drivers forum for more attention.

Yes and yes. In fact, everything (software-wise) is brand new, since my old motherboard decided it wasn't enough to blow up a condenser (typically MSI), it thought it would be fun to kill my hard drive and gfx card while it was at it. So Windows is freshly installed, and there are no remains of old drivers clogging up the system.

I have a Hercules 9800se AIW hardmodded to AIW 9800 PRO. All functions work. I had first tried the softmod which was succesfull, so I made the hardmod.

I had the same problems with WDM drivers, which was solved with installation of WDM drivers first, and the the Omega drivers. Make sure you are using the latest WDM drivers.

After succesfull instalation you should see something like this:

At last! Finally I got it working. Or...maybe not. Anyway, I removed all the gfx drivers, reinstalled the ones from the cd that came with the card (without installing ATI control panel), then updated to the newest version, and then installed the Omegas right on top of that. And now anything has a fitting driver, and everybody should be happy.
But am I? No. That's because the damn thing can't find any channels. It did before, before I ever installed any Omegas or newer versions of Catalyst, but it doesn't now. It just scans through the channel range and then a message saying something about finding no channels appears. This is the same whether I have the Omegas, newest Cats or old Cats installed, and whether I run the simple or the exhaustive search. First I thought there was something wrong with the newest version of the TV capture driver, but when I uninstalled everything again, ran both Omega and ATI driver cleaner, and then reinstalled the old Catalysts, it still didn't work. And yes, I have checked that the cable is ok, and all the settings are correct.
I doubt there is anything wrong with the tuner, since both card and tuner worked perfectly with the original drivers after I first installed it, and also worked perfectly on my brothers pc before I got mine fixed, but still I'm considering taking the card back to the shop to make them test it and see if they find anything wrong.
But first I'd of course try to get it working myself. Device Manager says everything's all right, everything has it's correct drivers, and as far as I know nothing is different from when it all worked.
Anyway, my current settings (and drivers and stuff) are:
TV settings: Region: Norway. Antenna (I don't have cable or anything, and live in Norway, so this I know is correct)
DirectX 9.0c
Win2k SP4 (with a bunch of automatic updates with too long names to list here)
ATI Catalyst 6.14.10.6374
ATI MMC 8.6

I assume you are using ATi Multimedia center. I also had the same problems with it as you. And wenn I managed to get it to work. The picture quality was bad.

Try ChrisTV or ATV2000.

Yes, as I have said before I am using ATI MMC. I tried ATV2000 too, but it scanned the entire frequency range with all standards (PAL-B, PAL-G, NTSC, etc..) without finding anything. Am rebooting now, got to check if everything looks ok... hard to see beneath the desk.
