Consisten graphics Corruption in games (needs reboot to fix)

First of all, sorry for posting here, as this probably is the wrong forum, but hey, you guys seems to know your way around things and I think it is somehow related to my Radeon card.

My problem is, in quite a few different games I get odd graphics corruption appearing from time to time, which cannot be fixed except by a reboot. I tried to mess around a bit with hardware acceleration settings and I guess it is somehow tied to DirectX, because when I picked the setting that helped with serious directX problems, the corruption on the screen dissappeared, but it does not feel as a solution as I cant seem to play any fun games with directX disabled

Anyhow, here are two screenshots of how the corruption looks, one from Warcraft 3, a game which it happens in and one of the desktop after the corruption has occured. (you will need to Copy-paste the adresses into your adress window as my host wont show the pictures under any other circumstances)

http://tolagal.netfirms.com/images/wc3screwup2.JPG
http://tolagal.netfirms.com/images/Desktopscerwup.JPG

The desktop one looks okay at first, but if you look at the text you will see that it is corrupted as well

The games I can say straight off that I have had these problems in:
Warcraft 3
Silent Storm
Rome: Total War

Anyways, I hope you intelligent people that know your way around things like this can help me out. I was going to post one of those long DxDiag excerpts, but it appears it was too long to post, so I'll post a shortened down version (if you need any other info from it to help me, please post so and I will dig it out).

Thanks in advance!

In your Bios there is an option to enable or disable fastwrites,
set it to enabled.

Hm actually, I did not find that option in my bios at all (the bios is the screen you can bring up at computer startup, where you can edit what disks that boot etc, right?). Anyway I loaded that up and found absolutely no option for fastwrites in it.. perhaps I need to upgrade my bios somehow, but I never tried that before. And well I really want things to work out, so, I guess can someone tell me what to do?

Looked around a bit and found that page with the bios optimization guide, and it mentioned something called "Graphics subsystem" there.. but I could not find any menu or anything by that name in my bios...

In most, if not all Gigabyte-boards you need in the first page(the one you'll get after pressing Del) to press CTRL + F1 to get the more advanced settings, then go back to the Graphic page where you now can set the fastwrites among other things mobo-manual

I have the exact same problem!
But here it happens with SW: Battlefront...
After this bug, I can alt+f4 to desktop but then its slow like if AGP is disabled(just like the bug with omega's instalation). Rebooting solves it. But then if I play the game after a few minutes it crashes again.

I've tried lots of configs in the 3D panel, nothing worked. Also tried now enabling Fast Writes in BIOS but disabled in Windows. Then tried Fast Writes enabled in both. Nothing worked

Also worth noting is that all this began in the previous omega set and the error DO NOT occur with the normal ATI drivers.

My vid-card is a Radeon 9500 softmodded to 9700(but latest omega shows softmod to 9800).

Anyone knows how to solve this??
TIA!!

You sure its not a heat issue? What kind of graphics corruption? Black lines? Or "dots"?

Yeah, it could be a heat issue, I have pondered it. I have no additional fans or anything in the computer, I just want to make sure its not something else before I fork out cash on a new fan .

Its blurry graphics with black lines here and there on the "terrain".

*points up at link to wc3screwup*
Thats a screenshot of it.

Yea I tried that link says " direct links are not allowed on this server"

Black lines are a sign of artifacts in my opinion.

Is the card OC'ed? If so how much?

Check the fan speed, and maybe think about getting an aftermarket HSF combo.

Cool air coming in doesnt hurt either.

You need to copy the adress and paste it into the adress field

Card isnt OCed.. I think (means overclocked?)

And what is an aftermarket HSF combo?

dude, I told ya, I have the same problem. It's not OC, it's not heat, it's a driver issue. To put it simply, it happens with the 2 latest omega sets, but doesn't with the old ones, nor with any ATI original drivers.
