exclamation How to remove the RadLink right-click menus?

Is there a way to remove the RadLink options from the right-click popup menus?

They're useful if you use RadLink a lot, but for those of us who rarely or never use them, they're just annoying, because they clutter the right-click menu.

Has anyone found a way to remove them? I looked around in the registry, but couldn't find the entries.

To Omegadrive and ChrisW: It would be great if an option to hide the right-click menus would be included in future versions, since I know I'm not the only one who has no use for the RadLink menus and is irritated by not being able to remove them. Thanks for the continued driver updates, though.

It's called the context menu You might be able to remove it with TweakUI or something similar...

if you dont mind editing the registry then renaming these three keys should do it

I did, but as soon as I right click on my desktop I get a "Please wait while Windows configures RadLinker" window, which then restores the key to its default.

Am I doing something wrong? Or does someone have other ideas?

I still think it would be great if this was optional.

oops no im doing something wrong, i forgot radlinker uses windows installer. you have to use windows installer cleanup to remove the radlinker entry so it doesnt reinstall
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...bd/msicuu2.exe

edits: after you extract the exe then run msicuu.exe

Damn... I used the windows installer clean up and removed radlink and now when I boot, my system goes as far as logging in and showing my own desktop background and then it just freezes (I can move the mouse around though). There's no taskbar, icons or anything, ctrl+alt+del doesn't bring up anything.. ???

I've tried logging in with another account, uninstalling the omega set in safe mode, reinstalling it in safe mode (it says it can't install radlinker cause the windows installer service isn't running, because it can't run in safe mode), nothing is helping.

Any ideas?

Alright, it seems after 6 minutes, the taskbar and everything else comes up, I guess it's just windows being weird.

Anyway, it doesn't look like this did the trick, I still have the RadLink menus, are you positive that worked when you did it?

I'm using WinXP Pro SP2, what are you on?

You can't remove something installed with Windows Installer. One thing that may work is to remove the registry keys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Shell Extensions\Approved then rebooting.

Why didn't you just uninstall RadLinker through the add/remove control panel utility? All that does is uninstall the Windows Installer file.

Yea thanks, that did removed part of it (the RadLink menus when right clicking a file).

Any idea how to remove the remaining RadLink menu (the one when you right-click on your desktop)?

After using the windows installer cleanup, my taskbar shows up after exactly 6 minutes. Any idea how to fix/revert this, without using windows restore (last resort)?

I don't want to remove RadLinker. I want it to remain intact, with all the functionality and menus under Display Properties --> Advanced --> Advanced 3D available.

What I do want to remove are the RadLink "context menus" that show up when you right click on the desktop or on a file.

Nope, that wasn't it. Not sure if I removed the right ones though. I removed everything in there with "rad" in the name (I have backups).

Any chance you'll make those right-click extension menus optional in the next release?
I know of at least a dozen people who would appreciate it.

I think I can probably add do it with the new installer. I'll have to test it to make sure.

Please, do... RadLinker poses potentional threat for Mobility users... It would be nice to be able to choose not to install it during setup...

Thanks!

Yeah, it would be nice if you add that option.

Great, thanks a lot, I can hardly wait

If it's all the same, you could make it an option in the interface to select or unselect as people want, but including it in the installer will do nicely too.

If you mean the RadClock service, that has already been removed. If you mean the RadProbe driver, nothing will function without it.

Yeah, I added it back because some people had difficulty with their system retaining their settings during system boot. It only sets the clock rate and gamma settings during startup then stops. You can press the "Start" button in the services section in the administrative tab and it will immediately stop.
