System Specs

Make sure to read the 'Omega Drivers Readme' found in the driver section of www.omegadrivers.net, as there are a lot of important information in it.

Some kind of visual anomalies are common when using softmod on these cards and the degree of the anomalies and when they appear can vary in between individual cards. You will have to decide whether the performance increase is worth it.

Welcome to the forum.

You may have got the checkerboard effect which means that your unlocked pixel pipelines are already broken, so you may be out of luck. If you get the checkerboard effect for some textures in certain games, then it may be alright if you can bear with it. It sounds bad in your case, so I don't think its possible for you to softmod unless you can find a solution. There may be some workarounds you can do over at OCFaq.

I also have a 9500 non-pro softmodded to a 9700. I get a checkerboard effect on tiles within certain maps in Half-Life 1, but I think that's a driver issue. It works fine with everything else, so i'm happy.

Nice, i'm also getting around 60-70 fps too so that's good to hear. CS:S works fine for me, so I don't know what's up with that. It only happens with the old HL.

ya it seems as though it only happens with CS:S and Doom3, im pretty sure it is driver related though. I can sacrifice for the boost in performance for now. If anybody has ne ideas, please keep me posted. thanks for ur help!

well, your pipes are sorta cripled it seems, mabe its the omegas, who knows, but at the link above OCfaq you should find a do it yourself softmod, try those out instead, see if it works for you, mabe try a previous driver and check your games with it, mabe its the driver... dunno.
