9600XT and Game Stuttering.
I recently upgraded from a Connect 3D 9200 256MB to a GigaByte 9600XT 128 MB.
I play Americas Army 95% of my online gaming and have suffered bad game stuttering over the last few months. Reformating, Defraging, trying and and every driver and setup, and still not going away. I installed the Extreme Giant 3, hoping to O/C a lil higher but to no avail, I still can only get the same clock speeds I had b4 installing the Cooler. I am running ATI 4.12 Cta's now, trying to see if they work it out, but the UniAn 4.12b's ran the best with the highest Bench scores. I would love to get this issue resolved because I have 3 other guys on my squad that have the 9600XT and have this stuttering also. I have the slowest of the 4 of us with my speeds by default being 500/600 and theirs being 550/680 "Powercolor"is their brand of cards. What can cause game stuttering? I meet the minimal requirements for Americas Army and have this issue with all my games so far. Constant stuttering and small lockups. Making gaming not fun at this moment. TY Holla!!!

I get some of those stutters in ww2online. Basically its mainly ati owners that receive it in that game. I use 9600xt, 2.8ghz hyperthingie, 2x512gb infineon 400mhz memory, fast hd, audigy soundcard. It really doesnt matter if i turn all graphics down or not or change the windows settings. The stutters keep existing. Then again, with the omega beta drivers i had way less problems with stuttering.
Right now using the newest drivers from asus, which came out after the new 4.12 final. But yeah, in that game, the developers are trying to see if they can improve the game for ati owners. Only problem is, ati is not offering any help at all, even when they tried to contact them. Guess the game is too small for ati and ati rathers want to make good advertisements in forums, how fast their cards run halflife2 and doom3 for example. Anyway, enough ranting, i dont think its the game that causes it really, its more the videocard, somehow i think the bandwith of this card is just not enough and that it really gets stuck sometimes if too much data has to be handled. |

I also have Gigabyte 9600XT graphics card with 256MB. There is no stuttering issues.
Possible solution: Try increasing the AGP Apeture size via BIOS just like what The_Neon_Cowboy said. Did you overclock it? And the 9600XT isn't the best card out there so you'll have to live with minor stuttering issues. If not, go get the X800XT.

Also might try uping your AGP voltage from 1.5v to 1.6v
