4.12 Driver installation...ERROR

I can't even install the drivers, after the ATI splash screen comes up, it gives me an error message:

Setup Failed to run installation: (0x80040707)

What is going on?

just to make sure, you are not on a mobile card of any sort right?

Yes, okay i go the drivers installed. Now i m agetting the same damn problem I did the last time even after I re-formatted my computer. The CCC will NOT LOAD it just gives me a stupid time glass then doesn't load.

(be sure you have a least .net 1.1 installed, mabye even the .net 2.0 beta)

This error might occur if there is a missing or invalid path in the registry. These registry entries need to be fixed in order for the installation to complete successfully.

Get everything you need includeing fixes ....

I've got the same problem. You should check if you've got .NET framework 1.1 installed, as CCC needs it. However, it's not just that, as I have it installed, but CCC still won't load?!?

why dont you read the requirment before installing it.. It specifically tells you you need net1.1 on ati's website... how can u miss that

and have you tried installing .net 2.0 beta?

I'm having the same "installshield" problem with the registry (the 0x80040707 error when installing the drivers). I looked at the link posted earlier in this thread, but all my windows registry settings are correct. Could someone point me in the right direction to tell which other registry settings might be getting used by the installer? I'm assuming one of the "vendor" registry entries is the problem in my case...

(note, I am using a laptop video card, inspiron 5100 with a radeon mobility 7500C)
