??? Omega help for a Noob

I am new to the Omega arena, and am trying to get all i can out of a ATI Radeon X800 Pro. I am running on a ASUS ATV8X-X MB, with a AMD XP2200 1.8Ghz Processor ( I know, not the greatest ), 1 Gig of PC3200 DDR Ram. I installed the latest Omega drivers and saw a boost in FPS while running Flight Sim 2004. But i dont think i have the card tweaked right.

1st question - Smartgart....Its says my current AGP speed is "OFF". If i try to change it to 8X it just reverts back to off. Is this normal ?

2nd question - Under the 3D tab, what settings should i be running at to maximise my FPS with what i have to work with ?

Any help is greatly appreciated......

Question number 1 i don't really have an answer for at all, sorry.

Number 2: IF you want nothing but pure preformance (WARNING, it may actually reduce preformance in some games in a very odd way) is to set all the texture and various settings to LOWEST, High Preformance. This will sevearly lower the quality of the game. But it should seriously bump your FPS up.

# 1. you need to reinstall your mobo chipset drivers and then reinstall the omegas. Make sure agp in your bios is set to 8x or 4x as well.

2. Is all personal preference. Just play with the different settings and see what type of performance vs image quality you prefer.

question #1, also check the motherboard bios and see what agp speed is set to. not to mention your agp and motherboard drivers need to be installed too.

question #2, if you want higher frames set everything to low settings, this will not make games look pritty tho... if u want games to look better set it higher - this would drastically slow down game play and frames tho... however a mix inbetween can be good too to balance the way it looks and performance.

Your cpu is way, way too slow for that vid card. You might as well buy a 9600 instead if you wanted to keep that cpu.

Reinstalling the mobo chipset drivers will fix that problem

First of all Thanks to all who offered help. I have taken the advice and did what you suggested. Results ? I have tripled my FPS in MS Flight Sim 2004, with the eye candy running at like 90%. I am now averging 20 - 25 in high density areas, and thru the roof at like 40 - 50 in low density areas. Thanx a bunch for the advice guys. I installed a new set of VIA chipset drivers, did a driver cleaning, and reinstalled the Omega drivers. All i can say is WOW !

One more quickie question if i may though. In the advanced tab of the Cards set up, this is what my settings look like....

Is this what they should be for gameplay or do i need to adjust a few things ?
Thanx again all for the help and advice....
