Problems with the 5.1s

I upgraded from the 4.12s to the 5.1s yesterday for my 9600XT...what a mistake that turned out to be. Changing themes takes about 7 times longer than it used to, I see no improvements on anything I do, and it kinda messed the way the TV out worked.

But by far the worst is the following 3 applications can no longer be run, and only these 3, so far as I can tell:
Adaware SE
Spybot S&D 1.3
WinRAR

Adaware can be uninstalled/reinstalled with no change.
But WinRAR and Spybot cannot even be uninstalled(by their official uninstallers, or the windows add/remove programs) Their installers(newly downloaded) will not run either.
I have run everything I could think of, from checkdisk(no errors) to virus scanning(clean) even the beta for MS antispyware, nothing seems to find anything. I get this error:
"Ad-Aware.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Any ideas on how to fix this?
