3.6 catalyst

Ok, First off i need to install 3.6 or 3.7 catalyst so i can play counter-strike with good fps without those cats i get like fps from 100 to 10, this happen to me last time and i called ati and they charged me like 50 bucks cause it was international. all i remember is going to device manager and installing it, anyhelp?

They are on the ATI site. Just go to the current driver page for the OS that you are using. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and you will see a link to 'Previous Driver Versions'

I have them. but it wont install right, it says INF error.

But for the 3.6 drivers, Assuming that you dont have an X800 which arent supported by the 3.6 drivers

That is because there’s no support for newer cards in CAT 3.6
which BTW was released 06/03..... your going to miss out on a
crap load of fixes and performance enhancemants

You can copy the opengl file (atioglxx.dl_) from the 3.6 folder over the one
in a newer set ... just don't use any set post CCC / AI

or just use one of the moded sets that are still useing a counter strike
opengl option to use the older driver file....

(I still don't get why users are fishing for drivers for better performance/to
eliminate fps in a 6 year old game that when it's beyond any reasonable
doubt the game it selves that is at fault.... the issues were added with the
1.6 patch removal of net code and video options, which results in higher CPU
usage and higher in/out in area's of the map resulting in lag areas/points.
valve addressed it a little with lower the CPU usage of the maps in problem
area's but it's a mapping issue.... nothing that’s ATI's fault or baby and now
that CS:source is here you won't likely ever see a fix for the 6 year old title
CS. I looked into these ages ago…

Don't go crying to valve either they will just tell you to blame thier problem

I think it a waste to even play a game thats so loaded with cheats and
cheaters wall hacks, aim botz, god mode, etc that the game is absoulty
unfair / unplayable with out cheats... they are likely more cheats for CS
then ther are players)
