Game gamma settings have no effect.
I have tried several different drivers and for some reason game gamma settings in control pannel and radlink have no affect on my games. Desktop gamma works but not the gaming gamma. Why is this?
I am currently using the Omega 4.12's and have tried the official cats and the 4.9's and 4.7's. Radeon 9800 pro win xp SP2 AMD 2500+ Asus A7N8X mobo. |

The colour profiler has never been perfect I'm afraid to say. Its one of the reasons why I feel pressured to use the CCC when I'd prefer not to. The reason being that the hotkey function works a lot better than the original control panel.
If you'll notice, whenever you set a fullscreen profile and run a game, it'll seem to default the profile. But when you go back and check the settings they still show as being your custom setup. Only by changing it slightly does it start working again. Well with the Catalyst control center, what I've done is, I've setup 2 custom colour profiles. Both are slightly different, set to hotkeys (ctrl+shift+s and ctrl+shift+d) and also with shortcuts to the profiles on my desktop. So whenever I run a game and it defaults the profile, I just run the hotkey with the profile that wasn't already set and it forces it to work. The desktop shortcuts are handy for me as well because my desktop profile settings always get defaulted as well after running a game. So I just have to doubleclick one of the shortcuts, when I'm out of a game and it'll return the custom settings. Slightly annoying, especially because ATI seemed to have gotten the profile working at one point in the 4.x's. But a couple of drivers down the line and it was all buggered up again ![]() Still I guess its my fault for owning a dark monitor eh? |

The behavior can be altered with the Gsettingcontrol variable in the registy although each setting has its good points and bad points

I'm having this same problem. Spyre can you give a bit more info please. I'm comfortable working with the registry, but would like to know where the settings are and how they need to be tweaked. Thanks

I made a post about this a while ago on Rage3D so search for Gsettingcontrol there
Theres 3 values you can use 0, 1 or 2 and at the moment its set to 2 Requires a reboot to take effect also

Make sure you are using version 2.028 or greater as the previous version had a bug with gamma. Also, make sure you don't have CCC installed as it will override your gamma settings.

Thanks Chris, that seems to have worked. I have the latest Omega driver installed which had RadLinker version 2.026 bundled. I unstalled RadLinker, installed version 2.028, set gamma and went into the game. When I exited the game I checked the gamma setting and much to my delite it was still the same as I had set.
Thanks again! |
