Catalyst 4.12 beta (and others), HL2 Antialiasing Mode, and me

Hello, I seem to have some problems with certain CATALYST driver version with my new x800 using AA in hl2.

flashing textures, yes, im sure most of you've seen your fair share of this.
my hl2 settings,

this problem is fixed by changing the AA speed, to any other speed, but id rather not have to do that every time i load the game up. this goes for the whole source engine, meaning any mod, does same thing.
i've tried latest catalyst versions, ive tried old versions, ive tried a bunch of different omega drivers, the 5.1 catalyst from ati works, but greatly lowers my frames, when i try the omega drivers baised off of these drivers, i get the frames back, but have the flashing texture as soon as i start up problem.
btw im currently using the 4.12 beta catalyst.
whats to do :/

Its not speed its number of samples 2X refers to 2 AA samples

Have you tried setting the 4x AA in the Cat CP. You may also want to give some more information as to other settings in your CP.

no i havent, and are these the settings you were refuring to?

Yes, almost. HL2 is a Direct 3d game, so make sure D3D is selected in the top left of the tab. Click custom and change AA from app. preference to 4x.

o.o i didnt know it was a direct 3d game
any way, i set it to that, same result though :/
