Wanted: 10 New Beta Testers

Hi, I am looking for 10 new beta testers with PCI-Express systems. If you are a potential candidate let me know in this thread.

ATI beta testers get to test software way before the general public, they also have been given gifts, as well as being entitled to getting a gfx card at 50% of MSRP. You also get to help us design new stuff (for example CCC, was given to beta testers 2-3 months before it was launched for feedback)

If you feel you can be dedicated and helping us find bugs in CATALYST, and have no problem loading up beta software on your system, please post on this thread. I will be picking people that I feel have what it takes.

PS. dont bother with "ohhhh please CM pick me" type of messages.

i will also ask current beta testers that are DH forum regulars to help me pick based on your previous posts on here and your general attitude.

EDIT: I should have added this in the first place, but PLEASE DONT SEND ME PRIVATE MESSAGE OR EMAIL ME ABOUT THIS. I will look through the posts here.

In contrast to my signature, I would still be interested if ATI wanted to supply the MB, CPU, and the V-Card for me to use for testing. On an as borrowed nature of course.

What are some of the things involved? A job discription if you will. I dont currently have a pci-e but I do have access to one. Its an msi nforce3 mobo amd64 3200+ and a BBati x700 1gig ram. Gonna have to check to see model of mobo, but its all stock speeds and up to date. Just re-installed Winxp sp2 and all the current drivers. Its a re-build for my roommate. I have 24/7 access to it being his "tech" and he wouldnt mind me doing some testing. I would like to know alittle more about whats expected. Are we obligated to overclock anything, ect.

Interested though for sure. I have a job that allows me alot of downtime so I bring my comp. in and have alot of time in front of it. Im no programer or hacker by any means, but I do know how to push a system. Time is one thing that I have alot of.

Thumbs Up!

My rig is the following:

Abit AA8XE Fatal1ty, Intel P4 3.0E @ 3.94 (15x263 MHz), Thermaltake Big Water + Noiseblocker SX 2 Pro, 2 x 512 MB Corsair VS 533Mhz @ 700 Mhz (Dual 4-4-4-12), MSI X800XT VIVO 256MB PCI-E

I have one of the rare X800XT PCI-E-s out there! It would be great to participate in the beta test. Best regards!

I'd be interested too

I just mainly read the boards but have been a long time user of ATi cards and I feel comfortable doing anything to my PC. I'm not afraid of using beta software or anything because I've learned all that I know about PC's by pretty much "breaking" them and fixing it by myself. Understanding why it broke and thusly not to do that again etc. I absolutely love tinkering with my PC, drivers, registry settings etc.

I have:
Chaintech nForce4 Ultra
Athlon64 3000+
ATi X700 Pro 256mb
PC3200 512mb (I can buy more if needed, no big deal)

Edit: Just after reading some more posts if a good variety of games is needed, I've got a lot of those too.

Edit2: Like any other job I just thought why not have some references? A relative of mine is a Solution Architect for Hewlett Packard. He diagnoses problems in companies software and/or hardware configurations and travels through New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania doing presentations and on-site work with companies using HP's services. I have his reference information if needed.

I'm around my PC everyday and also work from a laptop as well. So basically I'm always around email and such. Thanks for the opportunity!

you dont need to be a programmer or a hacker, you do however need to spend time testing beta drivers and reporting any issues you may find with games, applications etc. to test drivers no, you dont need to overclock, in fact if you experience a problem with a game for example you would need to ensure all the variables are narrowed so the fault could firmly be placed with the driver/program itself not stressed hardware.

If you purchase new games on a fairly regular basis its a good start.

I'd be interesed in this once I buy my new parts. I'm still not sure if I wanna go ATI or a 6800GT, the ATI X800XL is a great looking offer, but it's poor overclocking capabilities have made me decide on a 6800GT (and later another one for sli) solution, if x850s became cheaper or x800xls started to get some better overclocks under their belt I'd certainly be up for it. Another factor is that most places charge a lot for x850s, but also $100+ extra on top of MSRP for X800XLs . If ATI would be willing to loan a card for testing purposes or find one at a discount I'd love to participate in this as I love beta drivers, patches, oses, etc.

Hiya

I'd like to volunteer for this

My main rig is an NF4 & X850 XT setup and I also have a 925xe & 3.2 P4 rig and I have a rather extensive assortment of games

I also have experience as a Product Compatibility Technician with driver testing

All my main important work/files are kept on my fileserver and I have ghost images of both main rigs, so I have no worries with any of my two systems going down due to software issues.

Thanks,

Scott

Just curious CM, I cant assist with the video cards and I know this not your realm. I resently purchased a Theatrix 550 based capture card and can't use it properly due to software compatibity. Could you check to see if the MMC team would extend a beta of these sorts to users?

P.S. I do happen to have a A64 PCIe PC. Chaintec VNF4 Ultra.

I would be interested in becoming a beta tester. Although I have never posted here I read the forums on a perpetual basis.

Intel 915 Motherboard with a 560 P4 @ stock speeds (3.6 ghz)
2 gigabytes DDR2 Ram
x800 xt (500/500)
2x WD Caviar 10,000 rpm drives
Windows XP with all updates and service packs

If you only look at forum experience it would seem that I may not be fit, but I have tested beta software in the past and also own and continue to buy many PC games. This would allow me to test a variety of games with any new drivers that came out.

Hello Terry,

I'd be honored to be a part of your team. I'm a 46 yr old stay at home dad who's built his own systems for the past 12 years. I've owned many platforms in the past, most of which have been AMD but recently I've moved to a P4 based LGA775/PCI-E system, you'll find my complete system specs in my sig below, and have been very pleased with it's performance thus far.

I play a variety of games not least of which are Half-Life 2, Doom3, Far Cry, Battlefield Vietnam, UT2004 and a few older but venerable titles such as Quake3 Arena and Falcon 4.0 F-16 flight simulator.

I keep late hours and am a committed enthusiast & tinkerer, always tweaking and looking for that extra bit of performance from my rigs. When and if I encounter an error or problem of any sort I grab ahold and don't let go until it's been rectified to my satisfaction.

Terry, should you decide on seeking my participation, I will henceforth gladly accept any gratuities towards that R520 board Thank you for your time sir,

Cheers,

*sigh* Too bad I don't have the right card. I have an almost perfect setup for beta testing. With HyperOS on my system, I can do a 'base' install, and then clone it to other bootable partitions, and use any drivers that I wish without borking my original system. Having that capability has saved my butt more than once

Now, if you could use one more person with AGP...

I would Buy a X800XL PCI-E if they were available in Canada here Terry, Then I could Beta Test for you.

I would also be interested to Test anything Linux PCI-E related as well, If that's possible.

I have alot of Beta Testing experince with various companies, I just need a chance to do ATi Some good now, I want to have my feedback for all aspects of the drivers heard directly by ATi.

If you would like more information please let me know.

I don't prefer to list testing experience on open forums, due to some companie's NDA's and Annonimty of its Testers.

I would love to help test for you guys. I certainly buy games enough for it and have a X300 (atleast for now) so I could help test games on the lower end of the pci-e spectrum. I love finding little holes in things, and would gladly spend my time doing what I enjoy and helping out a company I love to. Feel free to contact me if you still have space at donutblaster@gmail.com or just PM me on the forum.

3.2ghz pentium 4 processor / 1 gig of ram / x300

Unfortenately I only usually lurk here (what a dumb move) so obviously Im not expecting to get the job, but I've been suprised before and figure Id throw in a post anyway. Congrats to the lucky ones.

I'm interested.

I have an X600Pro card sitting in an Intel D915GAV mobo at work at the moment, and it's hooked up to a Viewsonic VP171b-2 LCD. We're doing a crap load of testing on it everyday, with both the DVI and VGA aspect, and if you want to throw some drivers and what not our way (in this case it would be my way) I'm willing to be a guinea pig anyday. Hell, with the exception of the video card it's all mine after we're done so fire it all my way!!

Seriously though, I've got plenty of time, and the will to test out beta drivers. We're expecting to install an X700XT soon to test out, as well as an X850XT, and I usually run a gambit of games on the cards that can handle it.

Hi,

I am interested in becoming a beta tester. I regularly play a variety of (all the latest and greatest - RPG (just trying to get into WoW - ie, buy it!!, FPS, RTS, Adventure etc.) games, although mostly HL2 and Source based games at the moment (CS:S ), although City of Heroes is being played a lot now, esp. until i can get WoW. I have built my own systems for the last 5 years and am a tinkerer, and have no problems installing beta software.

I have the system in my sig (and when the new revision Venice Athlon64 Cores come i will be updating it with this new CPU), I would also like to know a few more details on what you would like a beta tester to be, so that i know that i can be a useful addition to the beta testers.
