shimmer has an ugly fix

hey, as most of u know, i have a 9800 pro which has REAL BAD shimmering problems.

ive decided that nothing i do will fix it, and i have diagnosed the problem.

here goes:

i got my 9800 pro about a year ago, and it ran perfectly. eventually, it started to overheat. not being able to get a job yet (im not old enough), i told my mum that it was overheating and needed cooling. "Why do you need cooling?" she kept on insisting that a computer doesnt need fans. id swear here, and id swear A LOT, but i know ill get banned

so anyway, she kept insisting that it doesnt need cooling.

2 weeks later, 500 crashes later, i turn my pc on, and play CSS.

guess what? i get shimmering.

so, i guess the problem was that our cards must have overheated a bit too much. now that my mum knows whats happened to my card, she feels sorry. well, she can go fk that. Its her fault it broke. Nobody listens to you if ur younger than them. if it wasnt for me, they probably wouldnt even have a T.V.

so, im going to send in my card for a replacement, hopefully i can trade it in for a 6600 GT.

well, i hope this helps u guys.

look, its my mums fault i have shimmering. She wouldnt let me buy new casefans, or a new HS+F for my gpu, even though it was my money.

i did work around the house for about 30 weeks to afford that. thats basically all the jobs in the house (except cooking).

if my warranty isnt going to work, and they say no, then fk. im going to make my mum buy me a new one. its her fault, and she knows it.

i know that the card is faulty because if i put in my 9200 SE, there is NO shimmering at all.

*edit*

oh, and plz excuse my swearing... im very pissed off if u cant tell....

thats it.

I disown my family.

I hope you're able to get that worked out.

I myself have noticed what seems to be a shimmery effect, possibly due to an overly crisp LOD. I certainly don't have any heat problems..my card is sitting at 25°C right now. Maybe I'll try tweaking the LOD...*sigh*

Hang in there, and maybe use a table fan or some such until you're able to figure out a cooling solution.

System Specs

Some nVidia cards have shimmering too. It's not just hardware/vendor problem it seems. This was meant to make you aware of that. Not to show one vendors preference (or lack of thereof) over another. Choice is yours.

I think that gives new possibilities for advertising. You know like "Fully supports DX9". In the future you will have "Shimmer free" on the box

I would say get a ATI card, but I can't change your mind, so I would say get a eVGA card
ps. if your getting a nvidia for the ps3.0, thats a realy bad reason
