Omega Radeon Driver 2.6.05a "Windows display driver stopped responding" problem

I installed this omega driver a week or so ago, and I am getting the below error about once a day (some days more).

Windows Display Driver Stopped Responding
The ati2dvag display driver has stopped working normally. Save your work and reboot the system to restore full display functionality. The next time you reboot the machine a dialog will be displayed giving you a chance to upload data about this failure to Microsoft.

The screen goes from 32 bit 1024X768 to 16 color 640X480 resolution. I was not having this issue with the ATI driver I was using.

Please help.

uninstall omega drivers, boot in safe mode, use driver cleaner, pull the network cable, boot into normal mode, install omega drivers all over. Make sure all the chipset drivers are installed, and disable fast writes when installing the drivers (unless you have an AMD64 machine, then enable them)

for the future - a few more details about your system would be nice.
