radeon 9000 - problems after reinstalling newest omega?!
heya
i probably did something stupid when i had to replace my rad 9500 with a rad 9000 (yea sad). i had the newest omega drivers installed and shut down my comp when before i plugged out the card and put in the new(old) one. after reboot winxp recognized it as new hardware and installed its standart crap drivers. i downloaded the current omega (as i didnt keep the setupfiles) and installed the omega over the old one. it asked me to replace some current files (ati2evxx etc) and i clicked yes. after reboot the tft monitor shortly went on standby (i think) and then the winlogon screen appeared - but heavily distorted and the comp didnt accept any input anymore. i accessed the winxp safemode and uninstalled the omega drivers. after reboot windows again recognizes new hardw and again installs its own shite. now the display will show up normally (but with this stuttering issue that is somehow related to smartgart as i read up here in the boards). now i need your help here. would it be best to uninstall everything related to graficsdrivers (and how do i do that effectivly) or should i try an older version of omega? i really dont want to go with the crappy xp drivers. help me please! |

Uninstall drivers and run DriverCleaner in safe mode. Then do not let Windows connect to update the drivers when in normal mode, and install Omegas.

okay.. thanksalot. i didnt find a way to deactivate this standart driver installation but i managed to get rid of the problem anyway. in normal xp mode i uninstalled everything related to gfx-drivers and rebooted into safemode. did the same there again (as i found something remaining) and ran drivercleaner a few times
afterwards i rebooted and xp again put some standartdrivers on the comp - this time i installed the newest dna's and everything works smooth again. yay.
