TV as Primary Display with No Monitor
Hey all
![]() I have never had to try to do this before so here goes. Right now I am sitting at my PC and am using a friends monitor for the moment. I however have no monitor of my own until my paycheck comes in and I want to use my TV set that way I can still watch all of my saved movies etc while Im here. Is there a driver setting that I can set so that when I boot up my PC it will use my TV as the primary display instead of wanting a monitor to be hooked up each time? I have never had to do this before and well I really want to be able to use my PC for now since I have a few episodes of shows to catch up on right now. |

all you have to do is go into the
Rightclick desktop>Properties>Settings Tab>Advanced>Displays>hit the power button for the TV and then check the "PRIMARY DISPLAY" button that shows in the same box... At this point i'd recommend (if you still have a monitor connected) that you click the CLONE button for the monitor that's connected.

It's been a while since I've had to do stuff like this and for some reason I keep thinking I had to have my monitor hooked up every single time I rebooted to enable the TV. I'm hoping so since it would be awesome to be able to use my PC again ![]() Thanks for helping out Judas |

well it SHOULD..... i've ran on a tv through a 7000/8500le/9000AIW/9200/9600XTAIW
and it's always worked..... set it up and apply.... reason i told you to set the monitor to clone is to prevent the ablity to accidently swin a program or something onto that monitor when it happens not to be thier... and if you need to diagnose something.. you can hook up a monitor without losing your TV... no problemo

I'm going to hook my PC up right now and tell it to set itself up that way. ![]() Also I got another piece of good news. My g/f has been having roommate issues and we are going to be signing the lease for our own place coming up next week and will be moving in on the first. That means I will finally have a hookup for cable TV and net again ![]() Not to mention if Comcast screws up their main office for the area is only half a mile from the apartment Tack onto that the fact that its only $595 for the apartment W/S/G paid. They have a olympic sized indoor pool, a jacuzi, a sauna, and racquetball courts. They also have a community room with a 52+" TV, as well as a pool table with new felt, and a new ping pong table, and a full service kitchen with all amenities in it so you can make food while you have friends over to watch something on their big screen ![]() All in all starting in April life is actually going to be looking very very good for the first time in a long time. |
