Problem with BF 1942 text

since the last few cat releases ... i think from about 4.9's the text in my BF game has been a little strange as shown in the picture below

everything else looks ok bar the ingame chatter ... any ideas guys

Turn on the Alternate Pixel Center option in the control panel to make it at least a bit better. The game engine has some issues with AntiAliasing.

sorry m8 can you narrow that down a bit i looked for a setting like that and cant see anything like it

im using the classic control panel not the CCC or are you on about BF's settings ?

also not sure about it being the game engine as this is a new(ish) development for me never had it until recently also my nvidia m8tes dont have this problem but a few of my ATI m8tes do

It should be found on the Direct3D tab on the ATI control panel, under a button named compatibility or maybe troubleshooting.

awesome ... cheers m8 that has sorted the problem out by about 90%

only issue now is the text has the occasional letter missing EG

if i say

UOcUK|Mr Cairo : Awesome shot

what i see is

UOcUK|M Ca ro : Aw some shot

but its still a hell of a lot better

No problem.

You can also try different levels of AntiAliasing to see if it makes a difference. I don't remember but the text might get worse with the highest levels of AA.

Problem also exists in battlefield:vietnam. Solution, for me, is to disable AA/AF, unfortunatly. At least know you aren't alone.

I had the same issues. The alternate pixel center and disabling AA/AF worked for me as well. I'll take the speed and the full text over the better looks anytime though
