Probem with X700 and Omega 2.6.05a

Hey all, I recently overhauled my PC (Athlon 64 and PCI Express - X700 Pro), but something seems a bit odd with my Omega Drivers.

I installed the 4.12 based Omegas, and I noticed a problem in the control panel: I couldn't see the OGL/DX options, and RadLinker didn't show my clock speeds. I've never had any problems with Omega, either .

Am I missing something, or is there something I'm not aware of?

Are you sure these are based on 4.12? I have them and the drivers number is 2.5.97a. Yours have a 2.6.05a label, I think these are the 5.1... And I notice that you are missing some tabs, like Smartgart(tm) and subtabs 3D, Options, Color in Advance 3D...

Maybe Smartgart service didnt initialize. Here's what to do, copyed and pasted from Omega F.A.Q.:

1. The SmartGart service did not initialize.
2. SmartGart disabled AGP support because it found a problem.

For case 1, make sure the "SmartGart" service is enabled and set to Automatic, also try starting the service manually, then restart your PC.

For case 2, make sure you have the latest motherboard AGP chipset drivers installed; they can usually be found at the motherboard’s manufacturer page or you can get them directly from the chipset supplier, like Intel, VIA, NVIDIA, etc.

Go in Start (bottom left), then Run. Type in Smartgart. Are the settings on? I'm not sure how it should be with PCI Express, as I have an AGP card, but the settings should all be ''On''

If you are lost, just re-install the damned drivers!

Also, what is CTX 2085?

Oops, forgot to mention. Initially I installed the 2.5.97a's, then I decided to try the 2.6.05a's, and those are what are currently installed.

I'll try the other things you mentioned.

Btw, CTX 2085 is my monitor.

*edit*

I tried to start the SmartGART service, and came upon this.

Not sure what could cause that. All my motherboard drivers are installed, but I'll check nVidia's site to see if there are any new versions.

it might give you more information about the error in event viewer (start>run>type in eventvwr.msc)

edit: it might be easier to clear the logs out, run smartgart and then check the logs

Well this is odd. The Event Viewer tells me the service was started, even though it still "errored"

*edit*

Btw, this is not affecting the performance of the card at all.

3dmark01: 17,914
3dmark03: 6,855
3dmark05: 2,930

Unless those are considered low for an X700 .

Also, ATI Tray Tools can see and change the clock speeds just fine, it's definitely an issue with the SmartGART.

There is a good Catalyst guide a www.tweakguides.com and here is what the autor says if SmartGART isnt fonctioning properly :
However, if they won't remain On, then typically you will need to install/re-install the latest Motherboard AGP drivers, and also check and change your BIOS settings as covered in the relevant sections of this guide above. You can also try re-enabling the 'ATI Smart' service if you disabled it previously.

You should read the guide to access to all information possible as I don't want to copy/paste the whole guide ;P

Of course most of those don't apply to me since I have PCI Express, everything there is for AGP.

*edit*

I can use ATI Tray Tools to edit everything, but I'd really rather not have that process open, I feel much more comfortable just using RadLinker.

I have the same problem. Noboody has been able to figure it out yet. I don't have any of the tabs you have, just Advanced 3D and it shows nothing. I also have a PCI Express card, maybe there is some issue with PCI-E.

Having the same problem as well, latest motherboard drivers installed (asus p5gd1 vm/s).

This is actually the first time I've used the omega drivers but I have followed the readme and the suggestions in this thread. Although, I do have the PCI-E version as well so AGP settings shouldn't be hindering me.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the drivers, but they didn't help.

Another person having the same problem leads me to believe it's either an ATI driver problem, or an nForce driver problem.

ok, help is on the way very few people have the x700 and i actually own one, the only two overclocking tools which work for it are the ATI TOOL and its one of the betas and ATI Tray, omega drivers wont work the oc utility is based on radlinker and none of the revision even detect the x700. ATI Tray is great beacause it also enables the tempature sensor on the x700 pro. I dont know why none of the offical ati drivers show the tempature on this card but the temp sensor is there and working but only the ati tray tool reads it and displays the temp. This has nothing to do with nforce or ati this is due to the fact that there are very few x700 cards out there, the reason I have one is beacuse I got a huge ati employee discount but i dont work for ati but i work for somebody which is big cust of ati to get that discount .

So what exactly do you say the problem is? You say it's not ATi or nVidia's fault, is it Omega's fault? Does he just need to add better support for the X700 in his drivers?

Answers to your questions.
Its none of their fault, like I said before the overclocking utility built in to omega drivers are actually called radlinker and its not made by omega its made by chris.w, the person that needs to add support is actually chris.w beacuse he is the one which makes radlinker which is then included in to omega drivers, but look for other pieces of software that I listed ati tool or ati tray they will both let you overclock the x700 card.

Ahh, Radlinker's fault, gotcha. That makes sense. Hopefully a new version will fix that, I wonder if he's aware of the issue.

So Radlinker makes the SmartGART tab missing? And the other options in Advanced 3D?

not the smartgart tab (i think that depends on you having AGP or PCIe). the advanced 3d tab is part of radlinker, no radlinker no advanced 3d tab.

I went back to the 4.12s after realizing it wasn't a specific driver problem, screw the 5.1s :P.

What about the issue with the 3d tab missing? Makes it difficult to change anti-ailiasing and all that good stuff.

I've got the same problem, and have had it since upgrading my rig to PCIe (and the rest you can see below). I get the same problem with the 4.12's, 5.1's and now the 5.2's (All Omega's - in other words Radlinker). Despite this, the drivers are great - just really would like my 3D tab.

Not to mention a bit of OC'ing godness.

Would be nice to hear from you Chris.

I'm experiencing the same problem here, only with a X800XL, fresh install on WinXP Pro /w SP1...

Installed DX9c
Reboot
Installed nForce chipset drivers
Reboot
Installed Omega 5.2s
Reboot
Installed ATITool .24 Beta 6?

Result: The Advanced 3D tab only has Clock Rate and About tabs under it.
Note, the clock rate detects at 0/0, if you check and then uncheck enable clockrate change, it detects at 339/326. (ATI tool shows it as 400/490).

System:
A64 3000+ Winchester
DFI NF4 Ultra-D
2x512MB KHX3200
MSI RX800XL-VT2D256E
Seagate ST830817AS
Seasonic S12-430W Power supply.

I suspect it has something to do with PCI-E vs AGP...

Has anyone contacted ChrisW about this? I like using Radlinker MUCH better than ATI Traytools.

Yes, he replied in another thread saying he's working on the solution.
