Possible Java Bug w/ 5.4's

I am having a very weird problem since I switch to the 5.4's. Anyways I went to open Limewire up and it started ok, but was like a blank white screen. After messing around w/ it a bit i uninstalled it and reinstalled it and same thing. Then i assumed somehow my java was messed up so I went to open up the java control panel, and it opened up ok, but was like a blank grey box. Then I uninstalled my java ran a couple registry cleaners, reinstalled it, and same thing. I tried an older version and it didnt work either. I tried limewire again and left it open for maybe 10-15 mins and when i went to shut it down I got a blue screen w/ the atiduag.dll file listed. After I shut off the pc and rebooted, i tried to open up the java CP again got the blank box, and then I opened up my ATI control panel. I shut off VPU recover and magically as soon as I hit apply the java box showed up properly. I shut it down, and went to open it again, and got the blank box. Then I turned VPU recover back on and VOILA! as soon as i hit apply all the tabs/writing showed up in the java CP. Then I started messing around w/ other settings in the ATI CP to see how they effected the Java CP. If you change any OpenGL settings it has no effect whatsoever. However if you change any setting in the direct 3d tab the java CP tabs/writing will magically appear and work till you close the Java CP. Can anyone else reproduce this? or have any suggestions? I forgot to mention that the java plugin for IE seems to work fine no matter what, but limewire which is a P2P program that uses java does not. I am going to try to 5.3's again to see if I have the same problem. I installed the 5.4's friday, but was away for the weekend so i didnt really do anything on the pc till today.

EDIT: I just tried leaving limewire open and changing something in the ATI CP, and once again as soon as i hit apply everything in limewire was functional?

EDIT#2: I just switched back to the 5.3's and everything works great. It definitely had something to do w/ the 5.4's maybe someone else can confirm this

This makes a lot of sense as I have been having some trouble with Java apps ever since I installed 5.4....

One of my problems is on CBS's Sportsline site, the live MLB scoreboard (which should update dynamically) occasionally just reloads the entire page out of no where... I emailed the site admin and they told me that there was something wrong with my Java install, but I had no previous problems... The only thing that changed was the install of the 5.4s, although I had not realized that a video card driver could affect Java...

The grey screen arises due to having AA enabled when launching java apps this can also cause BSOD's for some people

This occurs on lots of drivers but only used to occur to a few people, recently the change in the 5.4 drivers affects lots of people

well i did not suspect the drivers at all because I had played a few games, I had all my ATI control panel tabs everything seemed ok. I have had 2x AA on for a few driver releases and didnt have the problem tiill now. i did reinstall the 5.4's overtop of the 5.3's and everything is working fine now (i just updated the drivers through device manager). Maybe the ATI installer didnt work quite right the first time?
