Unable to deselect 'Use DDC Information'

Greetings, all. I've been struck with the incredibly annoying and headache-producing 60Hz problem. I've been having this problem off and on since I got this card. Sometimes I'd do something and it would work like a charm, and I wouldn't touch it. It was working fine at 85Hz last night, then I rebooted. Now it's stuck at 60Hz. Everything I can find tells me to unselect the button that reads 'Use DDC Information.' However, that button is checked, depressed, and grayed out so I can't make any changes to it. Nothing I do will change it- not multi-res, not a driver reinstall, not a monitor driver reinstall.

How can I fix this?

System specs:
Athlon XP on an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe (nForce 2)
ATI Radeon 9800SE
Omega 2.6.12 with the softmod to 9800 NP/Pro
Windows XP w/SP1
NEC MultiSync FP 950

Chipset drivers are newly upgraded to the latest nForce2 drivers- 5.10. I reinstalled the Omega drivers after that and still no go.

System Specs

What monitor shows in Video properties window? (Desktop right click, Properties) Does it show "default monitor or your monitor?

I suppose this is CRT since you care about refresh rate? Is it hooked to VGA connector or DVI-to-VGA dongle?

It's connected via VGA, but I've figured it out. I changed some settings in the same tab that the DDC button is in- I put the refresh rate and resolution to the max the monitor could support, and then the button became uncheck (still greyed out, but that doesn't matter).
