Best drivers for 9800 XT???

Hey All,

...this looks like the best place on the web to ask, so here goes:

I just updated my rig (ABit aV8 Guru, Athlon 64 3200+, 1GB PC3200 Dual Channel Memory, 80GB SATA Western Digital) so as to better match with the Radeon 9800 XT I already own; but I updated from a much slower machine, yet I see minimal differences in my FPS when I run DOOM 3 at the same settings as my previous rig. A friend of mine suggested that it might be a problem with the Catalyst 5.4 drivers, since my card came out in the ver. 4 days, so he suggested I roll back to something earlier.

So, in turn, my questions are: 1) is he right?; and 2) which drivers should I use (I'm NOT opposed to Omega, either). BTW, yes, I ALWAYS use Driver Cleaner.

All-in-all, I'm not expecting my machine to chew up DOOM 3; but I would hope to see a decent FPS an increase from my previous P4 (2.4 GHz), generic MOBO machine.

Thanks in advance for any help!!!!!

dont expect an fps increase from a cpu upgrade. just expect more constant fps instead of fps dipping. just use the 5.4 drivers
