Refresh Rate with new 5.6 Cat
lo all
i have a problem. when i run on Desktop resolution of 1280X1024 and i switch to refresh rate 85Hz, the text becomes blurry or with shadows (a bit bold maybe) or something (anyway its not clear and it really hurt my eyes). on other resolution with this refresh rate everything is ok. also on this resolution with different RR its ok. the problem is with the current 5.6 cat. plz advice. thanx in advance. |

it sounds more like a monitor problem than a driver problem to me anyway

What kind of monitor do you have, and how old is it? If it's a 19" or bigger made in the past four or five years, it ought to handle 1280x1024@85Hz very well. If it's a 17" or smaller, or is too old, it might be marginal to display that frequency.
Of course, see if you can't adjust the monitor settings to improve the situation.

Maybe it reverts to default settings... has it done this only on these drivers? It sounds more like a monitor thing
But 85 Hz is bad on the eyes. You should be using 75 Hz, its ergonimocally proven to be the best for most people's eyes. |

the monitor is a Viewsonic G90f 19".
didnt have this problem with other drivers. H3X4D3C1M4L, if u say its better to use 75hz than i will i dont see the difference between them anyway vbmenu_register("postmenu_628752", true); vbmenu_register("postmenu_628752", true);

Yeah but if you open up a blank notepad and maximize it, and stare really hard and close at the white, 75 Hz should be more comfortable than 85.

Where do you get that? It's flicker that causes eyestrain, and the higher frequency your monitor is running at, the less flicker you see.

Hmm.....I also wonder if 75 Hz is really better. I always thought the higher the refresh rate the less eyestrain one would have.

I saw it in Maximum PC. Its not good too have too high a refresh rate though or it will make your eyes uncomfortable. Flickering isn't caused only by too low a refresh rate but by one that is too high.
Google did turn up this though. I'll scan in the Maximum PC page and PM it if anyone likes. |

Your monitor supposadly supports "1280 x 1024 @ 89Hz "
but have you loaded your monitor drivers?? http://www.viewsonic.com/support/drivers/index.cfm 85 Htz is the preferd refresh, lower = more eye strain
