All Drivers Benchmarked Here!
I’ve decided to do my own benchmarking of all the available drivers for my Asus ATi x850XT PE (AGP) card. What I did was run 19 tests on all the drivers and then scored them to see what would work best with my system. Basically I used seven different benchmarks then did them 3 times per driver (except PCMark05 which I only did once per driver), then averaged out that score. I then gave them points based on that. If the driver had the best results for their round they got one point, if they have the best average score they got two points. So if a driver scored first in all 3 rounds (and obviously was the best average score) it would receive 5 points (1 for each round and 2 for the top average score). Anytime a drive scored the worst result it received -1 points, -2 if it was the worst average score. So you could receive -5 points if it was the worst overall driver.
The benchmarks I used were: 3DMark05 PCMark05 Aquamark3 CounterStrike Source Stress Test Then I ran FRAPS 5 times during the same situations of the following games: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Half-Life 2 Battlefield 2 I loaded up the same part in the game for all the tests so it was unbiased. I then removed the highest and lowest score out of the 5, then used the remaining 3 to score the round. I know it may sound super confusing but basically I found out that the Asus drivers are the worst and the Omega’s scored the best. Unfortunately, Omega’s drivers screwed up my BF2 after awhile so I use the second place NGO drivers. If you would like to download the test to use, go here http://www.arnoldhearing.ca/Benchmark.xls it’s in MS Excel and you just have to erase my numbers and put in your own If you would just like to see the test go here http://www.arnoldhearing.ca/Benchmark.pdf I know it’s a funny address but I’m just using my company’s domain :P It’s a very non-professional test, but it was

strange scoring system... lol try just doing 1 through 6 then the lowest score wins
you are kinda weighting a lowest score on them... but that is the statistics in me

How come that the results are so inconsistent? For examle in GTA:SA Asus scored
run 1: 55.56 lowest of all run 2: 73.21 highest of all run 3: 59.82 and that's with it's highest and lowest score removed. |

Like I said the system was something I just made up on the fly for myself. It's what happens when you're bored at work. I noticed there are some scores that are inconsistant so that's why I ran the tests several times. But I loaded the same save for every test and just took the FRAPS FPS average while looking at traffic (in GTA). So I have no clue why in some it was super high and some super low. I just really like how well BF2 played with the NGO's.

NGO's are a set of modded ATI drivers, so are Omega's, and so on.

They have their own forums on their page...ask on their page what they do to make bf2 run faster; they should be able to explain their steps/tweaks.

The NGO people used to be on this site but found them selfs banned and for reason
as to thier posts on these forums. As well as clashes with the rules and moderators. me on benchmarking side commentary: As for the test results you have to set up a laboratory like clean testing environment or the scores = nothing. Because tons factors found in a normal system will strew the results. That why I look at such reviews with a lot of skepticism. Also the fact you have to restore the registry etc to their previous systems which only sure way is a full format after each driver. Though you can try a system restore. Each set alters registry settings, files etc... Some even load some stuff behind the scenes. So when you uninstall one set then install another the previous set can still be affecting all scores there after...Your system setup, programs installed, processes running, clearing caches or lackther of, not defragmenting the hard, even how long windows has been installed can and will strew your results. Meaning they are all over the place as yours are. In ideal test system weather you repeat a test 3 time or 15 the “average” should be very close the same! Each set of tests must be done in the exact same order etc... It's long hard and pacetaking to get accurate results. You can't just thow the drivers in a bench them a few times there is alot more to it then that or your results wont be reproduceable. If that can't be done the numbers are worthless. Also best way to display data is in bar graphs not charts... Not picking at any just informing them a little more ![]() I used to do a lot of testing
