ATI and UT D3D
I have been playing this game a lot lately, so I found a lot of things... thad don't look as they should.
OpenGL doesn't work and doesn't look good (Voice Menu has some strange artifacts on side, screen is sometimes flashing, overally it looks bad), but D3D generally works better except some things like UT menu and some white dots that appear sometimes on scren. Screenshot WTF? In 3 years old UT? On Radeon 8500? C'mon, ATI. Any ideas (Kyro and NV don't have this problem)?

I don't have this problem running UT in either OpenGL or D3D with my R8500. In fact, OpenGL using compressed textures is even faster than D3D with my particular setup. Did you use the updated OpenGL renderer from Epic as well as the recommended .ini settings?

Your menu doesn't look that bad as on my screenshot (IN D3D)?
NOTICE THE STRANGE BARS. Also, Voice Menu (V by default) has some weird mess around it (hard to notice - try looking at it while moving mouse cursor through menues).

I'll run it again tonight under both D3D and OpenGL to see if I can replicate the problem.

D3DDrv.dll and OpenGLDrv.dll (in UT\System dir) - can you zip them both and e-mail them to me?

OpenGL runs faster in UT on my 9700, but D3D looks better IMHO. Never noticed those gliches you have in the pictures though.

Anyway, I'm using the same D3D driver that comes with the v4.36 UT patch. For OpenGL, I use this updated one that Epic put out for Radeon users a few months ago along with the compressed S3TC textures from the game's second CD. http://unreal.epicgames.com/files/UT...Drv-090602.zip For OpenGL, this is what I use in the unrealtournament.ini file (it's slightly different than what's recommended by Epic): [OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice] RefreshRate=Default DetailTextures=1 UseTrilinear=0 UseS3TC=1 UseTNT=0 LODBias=0 UseMultiTexture=1 UsePalette=1 UseAlphaPalette=0 Translucency=1 VolumetricLighting=0 ShinySurfaces=1 Coronas=1 HighDetailActors=1 MaxAnisotropy=0 AlwaysMipmap=0 UsePrecache=1 SupportsLazyTextures=0 By the way, I don't use FSAA at all with my 8500. I've found that not only is it an unacceptable performance hit, it also causes weird anomalies like the one you've just described. |

OK, please e-mail me D3DDrv.dll (since I got that one that comes with Creative Labs UT patch).

OK, I'll do that tonight when I get home. I think it's the same file though. The main difference between the retail and Creative 4.36 patch is the installer and some of the branding. The core engine and driver files should be the same.
