9700 AIW Driver install problems

Got a shiny new 160GB drive to do a clean install of Windows XP Pro w/SP2. Windows install had no problems. Motherboard chipset drivers also installed with no hassle. (Asus A7N8X Deluxe)

Then it came time to install the video card drivers for the 9700 AIW. Proceeded to do so using the Cataqlyst 5.7 drivers recently downloaded. Everything seemed fine until the reboot. When the desktop came back up I was greeted with the New Hardware Wizard. Cancelled that window nad it pops up again. And again, for a total of 6 times. Checking in Device Manager it lists 9700 and 9700 secondary under display adapter but has 6 instances of Unknown Device under Other Devices. All devices show "Located on All in Wonder 9700 series. Letting the new Hardware wizard to search for drivers did not help.

Uninstalled, all drivers removed all listings from device manager, disconnected from internet, booted to safe mode and ran cab cleaner and driver cleaner (after using Live Update) I removed all ATI drivers but did not select ATI IGP SATA or RAID. Reinstalled ATI drivers and was right back where I started from.

Been through this about 5 times now trying various other things, reinstalled chipset drivers, tried NGO optimized drivers, and still no go.

What am i doing wrong????

You want the WDM drivers. Once it knows about the card, the rest of the things are the TV tuner, TV out, audio cross bar etc.
