10/10 for a good install - I pretty well expected a repeat of my "unsupported display mode" issue, but it was clean.... still came up a bit wierd, lower than standard resolution, I believe, then Windows offerred to fix it.

Can't say how well they run under pressure, but touch wood (well, chipboard), neither of my two previous problems have appeared.

After playing MORROWIND a couple of nights in a row without game crashes with the Omega drivers, after installing these last night, I had no less than 4 games crashes within an hour and a half. I'll stick with them for a couple more nights to see if the problem persists.

Making sure to record what time and which game these VPU crashes occur and to fill out every report email till its fixed.

Prior to installing this driver I've been running:

Cat 5.6 (random VPU crashes),
Cat 5.5 (no crashes),
Cat 5.7 (random VPU crashes),
Omega5.6 (Random VPU crashes),
Omega5.4 (no crashes)

I'd been happily running the Omega5.4's for 3-4 weeks without any VPU crashes of any kind, this is definitely a fault within the latest drivers. (5.6 and up)

If anyone else starts getting these VPU lock-up's please take the time to fill out the report email.
Disable VPU , VPU will give you problems. its not the drivers. also if your overclocking lower your mem and gpu clocks. the only time i had vPU crashes when i forgot to turn off VPU recovery.

Rated the drivers a 9. If I gave them a 10 I wouldn't have anything to look forward to Rock solid. The best Cat's so far.

Nah its not that mate, thats why I linked up what other drivers I'd been using as well.

If I don't have VPU recover on, and the VPU bug happens, I get a full lockup which means I'm forced to restart my computer.

Geez, how much more speed can be gotten from a 9800pro?

I give 'em a 9. Speed improvements and LOADS of fixes warrants a high score.

Gave em a 9/10. There were a ton of bugfixes, and the visual quality and stability seem to be as good as anything in the 5.x series, but the performance is unchanged between 5.6 & 5.7 for the stuff I'm playing (CoD:UO, Rome: TW, Thief3).

I suspect if I had BF2, I might just have given them a perfect score, however. :-)

Just reinstalled the whole machien with the 5.7's. a day before this release.. not sure i could be bothered changeing drivers..since i dont play BF2.. but.. seems people are happy..

Just a small rant.. whats with the rating system... why do all driviers seem to get 9 outa ten or around there. id figure 5 would be normal.. (ie unchanged.. same performance etc.) perhaps youd give it 6 if it came with fixes taht you noticed.. or 7 if it came several fixes.. or 8 with fixes and speed increases and so on and so forth. with the elusive 9 and 10 being offered for really new and exiciting stuff??.

though i suppose then wed come to want a thousands of new features every release. hehe

Catalyst 5.8 fixed problems in some of the scene-demos I recently downloaded, also I got a nice +250 points boost in 3Dmark05 with my 9800 Pro (i don't give much for 3Dmark, other than being a kickass gfx demo , but it was nice to see some gain in scores nevertheless). I think I like this set
