Considering this is actually RATE the drivers & the discussion thread is Here.

Wait till ati officially release them on there site sometime tommorrow to gain the separates.

I'll cast my vote farily soon,i want a little more time to test the more modern games...but quke 3 & sof 2 is running very well indeed, perhaps a little better.

Early stages is looking towards a 9/10.improvements each time for me.

I think its pretty unfair to only host the CCC 5.8s.

Paper Launches aren't bad. I'm not sure why ATi/nVidia stopped them. They're only crappy when they promise a date and don't release it. eg. 4 months from Nov to April before 5800 was released. And ATi's suggestion that they'll always have hardware within one month of a paper launch. Promises that turned out to be lies.

But...if you guys say Card X will be out by this date Y. All is fine then.

I have to give it a 5.

I saw no difference what so ever.

Fear still stutters around every corner, BF2 stutters when I look left or right (or behind for that matter), same perfomance on Far Cry, so nothing new there.

And before ppl start asking my specs....here they are:

Its a WinXP Media Center 2005 edition PC (I wouldn't think that has anything to do with performance).

P4 3.0g HT 800mhz FSB (Dual Proc.)
2x 512 DDR SDRAM 400 (PC3200) [so 1gig]
260gig HD SATA
ATI X800XL 256MB - PCI-Express

So if anyone has any suggestions as far as settings withing the "Cat's", please let me know. This is ridiculous.

Cool Cool (I mean that seriously).

I was already "window shopping" for another 'gig. As soon as I start this new job (well same job, new position, heh), that first pay check...after the obvious mandetory responsabilities, lol....I'll get my 'gig.

You, General Claymore, have about the same system set-up as me (I even have an audigy 2 as well, heh), so I'm glad to hear that my 'theory of wanting to get more ram wasn't too far fetched. I guess the newer games are now ACTUALLY using ram, huh.

Thanks again!

OMG dood, I mean, there's obviously something wrong there. You shouldn't have any stutter at all, that's gotta be something similar to what happened to several HL2 users.

Those wanting to install just the driver.

Have you not noticed that if at the appropriate point in the install of this download, you choose custom install, you can uncheck CCC and just install the drivers?

I voted 10. Is this poll slightly biased by the fact that DH got special treatment? Put people in a good mood :-)

1/10. Drivers still causing random VPU crashes in games.

Had 2 in game freeze up's so far, exact same problem that the 5.6 and 5.7's caused.

Making sure to record what time and which game these VPU crashes occur and to fill out every report email till its fixed.

Prior to installing this driver I've been running:

Cat 5.6 (random VPU crashes),
Cat 5.5 (no crashes),
Cat 5.7 (random VPU crashes),
Omega5.6 (Random VPU crashes),
Omega5.4 (no crashes)

I'd been happily running the Omega5.4's for 3-4 weeks without any VPU crashes of any kind, this is definitely a fault within the latest drivers. (5.6 and up)

If anyone else starts getting these VPU lock-up's please take the time to fill out the report email.

Further game play on the more resource influenced games... now voted 9/10 but in realistic terms i would of choose 9.5 as the option is not there..

I never give full marks, but thats my opinion.Hope ati keep up the great improvements.

9/10

No problems detected (BF2, Juiced, Thief 3, GTR and GTL-Demo)

Especially in BF2 the driver made a step forward. It runns smoother and the graphical corruptions are gone.
