That actually gives me a good idea... I wonder if I should have a contest called "Design the next cool CATALYST feature" Let people submit cool ideas for features we are lacking in the drivers or CCC and then award the winning contest something very cool... say a top of the line graphics card..... Interesting... I will think about that one some more. The only thing that worries me is if I will have time to read 1000 or so suggestions.

Bah maybe random draws are easier.

No would be a good idea IMHO. I like competitions and it also attracts people to your forums which are leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of the sites relevant to your website.

As for your paper work file it. Under trash! EXCEPT for the paper with my address to send your goodies to.

Thanks for the DL. I've ran the 5.8's on BF2 for a few hours with not probs. Not really sure if its improved anything. Seems like the FPS are a little faster but I'm not really sure. Great Site!!

Guilty as charged your honour...............I have been using moded CAT drivers lately, when I re-install the CAT's my system idle processes in task manager fluctuate from 91-99, which makes my CPU go from 0%-34% every 1/2 second, constantly going 0-34....0-34....0-34...(recurring) If I go back to a moded driver this doesn't happen. Is there a cure for this, so when I use the real CAT'S it's not messing up my system?...............please help !

Sounds like a great idea.. I have 2 or 3 things that I think would be a great addition to the CATs.

Custom resolutions as already mentioned here..

And also something I have mentioned before in the past here at DH.. a built in application that manages ALL the resolutions your monitor displays, and lets you set the refresh rate for each resolution.
It would be great for games that try to run in a refresh rate that you don't want.. (like 60hz) when refresh rate over ride feature doesn't do the trick..

It would be like a built in "refresh force" type thing.. but set and forget for each resolution available.

Anyway- I got dibs on those ideas if you make the competition!

Amazing how such a contest can lure so many people into the post. Without the contest, I wonder how many of these people would actually reply and say "great drivers, thanks ATI!" and stuff. But ah, whatever works. And for good time's sake

Well, I've got the drivers, but still haven't been able to get home to install and try them out.

After reading some of the excellent reviews so far, I'm as eager as ever to see what these do. The last CCC was quite impressive for me. (For the first time ever!) So, I'm really looking forward to seeing what's been improved.

It's so cool that DH and ATI are working together so well to take care of the community.

5.8's work amazingly.

almost 20fps increase on HL2 VSS.

almost 2fps increase on Doom3 ROE. (time demo was taken from the entire 3rd hunter battle)

BF2 is amazing. shadows look perfect, everything is running on high, 6X AA 16xAF and 60fps average. before i could only do low quality shadows, 2xAA, and 16xAF

Paper Launches aren't bad. I'm not sure why ATi is following nVidia's lead with no paper launches. From a PR perspective if you can hype your product before it's released, the more excitement you build. We are going to get an XBox 360 release date and everyone will be lining up.

The problem occurs when you guys promise a date and don't deliver. nVidia had 4 months of sitting on it's ass for the 5800 release, and ATi promised 1 month from Paper to Retail for all products a few years ago. Both have lied and it sucked.

BUT...if you guys are certain hardware will be released on Day X and do actually do it, well it's all good. Just don't keep us hanging. There isn't anything we hate more.

oh yeah and

Well, I can't really compare the CCC now to the old CCC, considering I've never used the CCC.. but from what I've heard, it was slow, but this is fast, as others have mentioned Great job!
