The best bang for my buck is to just switch on 2X AA, everythng in game on high,
dynamic light and shadows off.

petri1 what X800 do you have?

Well, I got a performance increase, if you compare it to the 5.7s. But I have almost all Advanced Tweaks in ATT running, what can make some difference

COPP is total crap, it requires that you run media on a spacific output device.

Meaning that a video author could require you buy a Sony 18" LCD to view his content or it will not display. (Not sure if the XP version is this spacific, but I know the vista one will be.)

Why aren't you using timedemo's? They play every time the same things, so you can compare it for real

Thumbs Down! eh

Ok. so the CCC works a bit faster. Good.

Bad...overall these drivers work worse. Its been a steep decline every 5.x version.

Cant wait til I can afford a 7800GTX!

FPS isn't everything. Graphically they have improved IMHO.

After reading the anadtech article i'm dieing to ask the question can or will there be a setting to turn off hypermemory in future releases freeing up GPU cycles for cards with higher memory ammounts?

In BF2 timedemo don´t work like in D3?

one has to make a demo first? If so what kinda demo so it will be a fair comparison for those who want to try it or is there a teimdemo test made?

5.8's seem to running fine here. Booted a few random games and experienced no problems.

Yep, CCC responds quicker now.

Seems all good to me.

good try everything on high, and both dynamic compleletly off.
There really isn't anything you'll ever miss plus your talking a 10FPS
boost in shadows alone... Also try moveing your CP performance slider all
the way left to performance. With the in game 2XAA the game looks and
plays good. Aso make sure you've got a big pagefile like at least 1024MB.

If you want to do demos there are some premade ones out there as
how to's to tell you how to make your own but I can't really serch for
you ATM to to by current ISP problems. I can barely get on long enough
to post.

Would you rather thy not added supoort and COPP content being complelty
unplayable on all ATI cards? You'd be screeming were is our ATI COPP
support and that you going to but NV cards if they don't add COPP support

ATI didn't write COPP did they?
ATI didn't come up with the IDEA did they?

Just like if you don't like WMV DRM it sucks but wouldn't you be mad if you
count watch DRM content period becouse the grahic maker didn't add the
requred support? YES! especally if you hve the licene for the content you'd be
looking for gahics card with support in a heart beat...

Set the ATI CP slider to performance, that mean AA & AF wil be on application preferance
set you AA inside the game as it has it on AA control and forceing it don't work. It anything it just hoses your FPS...

I'm playing the demo @ 1024X768 , there is a Huge differeance between no AA and 2Xaa in ragards to jaggies. I mean there the useall IQ differeance but BF2 is ubber loaded with jaggies and just a little AA makes a world of differeance. I useally play with No AA/AF but BF2 "needs" the 2XAA. Or wise the jaggies drive me nuts!

4X and 6X aa like 16X AF in that game makes it look good but
then I have like 70FPS and it "feels strange" when in fast moveing
vehickles I assume the FPS has to be running low...

So I've came to useing 2X AA and no AF in BF2 and i'm useally the highest, or
among the higest scoreing player on the team if not highest on the sever the server.
Not that the has anything to do with my grahics but it doesn't hurt....

In this case I'd rather have the stable high FPS then the extra IQ AA/AF could give
me ...here is one time demo thingy I ran across if you want to go that way

well i´d say Catalyst 5.8 are really fast i get about 100+ more in 3dmakr 03 05 tahn with 5.7 885703(5.7)4567 05(5.7)

so moded drivers will have a tough time to out perform catalyst drivers that is for sure

Well I am using the CCC... it seems to work very good- it is still a little slow, not near as fast when starting as the regular CP which is instant.

I wish I could turn off that video in the "video settings".
They finally let you turn off the other video in the 3D settings, but then make you look at and wait for the other video's.. What is it with ATI making you watch video's in the CCC??? ...control freaks... LOL..

The CCC takes about 5 seconds to start.. so that is better than before, and the memory usage seems to be much better.. at least the real mem usage.. the VM is still about 50MB when CCC is open, 21MB when closed.

I still wish you could adjust the size of the window the CCC uses.. scrolling through all those settings is kind of annoying wen you could just enlarge the window and see them all.

Overall much better than even a few months back.. now if only I could use more resolutions... that would be cool..

EDIT- woot woot..

Just got it- can't wait for it to be delivered.. Finally my PC is up to date once again.
