When I installed Cat's 5.8 my CPU keeps pulsing from 0% - 33% non stop. When I look in "processes in task manager" CLI.exe is trying to start up but shuts down again. This is constantly happening every second and I believe that is why my CPU keeps going up and down.
I am stiill using the Cat 5.8 driver but I have removed the CCC and this has resolved the problem, but I want to use the CCC. Has anyone else come across this before?

I have SP1 for it. I redownloaded 1.1 and SP1 earlier and reinstalled. But that wasn't the problem..........

Try uninstalling all of the drivers, use DriverCleaner, then re-install the 5.8s and see if it works, sometimes an installation can go squiffy, it happens, good luck.

last time i had an issue with CCC not working right it was cause i used DC and not unistalled them the right way frist.
I fixed it by reinstalling the old ccc then unistalling it using add remove programs. Then i installed the new with no issues. |

If you're running a firewall make sure CLI.exe has access to the local area network (i.e. 127.0.0.x)

Just allow it to have access to the whole internet or whatever.... it wont actually go anywhere and it doesn't report anything and you DID buy the card and legally own it so whats the big deal

Same problem. I uninstalled and shut down my firewall when installing the 5.8's. I still get that error and ATI drivers aren't there. What am I doing wrong then? Help very much appreciated, thanks.

Not a problem man @popeye: You gotta make sure after the fact that it still has access. You don't need to uninstall the firewall. My advice now is just uninstall ATI stuff, driver cleaner, fire wall install, then ati drivers and make sure the fire wall gets configured |
