Catalyst 5.8 drivers tested and compared!

*EDIT* NGO 1.5.8 drivers have been added to the comparison.

It's me again! Just dropping a line to let everyone know I've updated my Catalyst Comparison to include the newly released 5.8 drivers. Again, it's much too big to put in this post so to check it out go to my Catalyst Comparison.

If you have any comments/questions/whatever feel free to let me know.

hi,

nothing against you, but in this forum are so many users with different ati cards...
why do u not ask us if we do some benches too with other cards?
its great that u take the time to benches the whole games on your system, but with only one test setup and only a radeon 9800xt = the compare tells nothing for me.

this is not a flame or something else, just an idea to bring some better conclusions to your (test) site!

but nothing speaks against a good teamwork and testresult-sharing with others.

That's exactly why I state in the article your results may vary depending on your hardware, this article just gives a general idea on how the drivers compare. Generally however, drivers perform pretty similar across different hardware, unless you have old legacy hardware. A driver that works good for the 9800XT I use to bench with most likely will perform good with an 850 XT PE. But again, this article just gives a general idea on what to expect from a driver.

Also like SexPistoL said, if anyone wants to send me additional cards to test...

5.8 Cat. includes optimizations about BF2 , bench will be better if this game is involved in test. Also it can be a good game for comparison of other drivers, because it has a tough engine

Yes I was going to include this game at first but when I first tried using it as a benchmark it was a little flaky on the results, they would change a lot every time. I'll try the game again and hopefully it works better.

bf2 needs a good patch to have good sold results come from it. mabe even ati might need to help with the drivers side of things too, but its not to bad, ea needs to get going, i know for a fact that they got the game out unfinished but it had to be out their then and now... they figured they would do alot of patching, BUT... they neglected to do so at first because their hands are full.

when everyone started yelling and bitching they finaly got on the ball, moreso and sooner because people were mad.

anyways good stuff, i thought u were doing a compairison with all 5.8 modded drivers too, but its still good to see regardless. anyone have any links to the UNIAN downloads? the website they have is not offering any more downloads it seems, i get an error every time there, and i love unian drivers, simply the best.

from the translation i think they are having problems with their hosting compainy or aitmainia or something like that, but then again the translation is all messed up and dont understand a word of it... i dont talk to lucifer at all so i cant ask him i dont have msn on this PC.

Well there's only 1 other 5.8 modded driver out right now so it wouldn't be a very big comparison But I am working on getting the NGO 5.8 drivers tested so stay tuned.

that sounds good to me buddy! i cant wait for that, because i would like to see the performance of them all... plus the NGO5.7 and NGO5.8, that would be great, especially to see if the fast NGO release really does make a differnce with real figures.

omega usually keeps to himself until he is ready to release, but i really miss the Unian's

He can only test on the card's he has.............Take the tests as they are meant, with the rig he has . As he says they are just an overall average that any card should get.

Note... Please dont take this as an insult

Sorry about the longer than intended wait, but the NGO 1.5.8 drivers have been tested and added to the comparison, check it out.
