I believe there is a Temp bug as well because my Overdrive always seems to show my GPU temp as 20C(wouldnt it be nice but FAR from true)

Yah I had some big load Lag with the Fear Demo as well. I have an x850xt PE AGP. The game looked sweet but the load LAG was killer.

And How about some BF2 optimizations as it is one of the hottest games going right now and it is a resource hog as well. I think if those to things can be hooked into the 5.9s there will be lots of happy ppl around.

well we just have to see what the new forthcoming delayed patch can do to things then can we ask ATI for optimizations
until then and wait for the full FEAR coz by that time the 5.10 are out hopefully and who knows by then

yes i have found another bug well actualy i forgot about this bug lol
sometimes when i install the Catylist drivers OVERDRIVE will be enabled and when i go to select it then press to enable it my Computer screen goes scrambled and the only way to fix it is a system reset.....

othertimes the overdrive will not enable at all
now i know i had this working with a driver set once before but i cant remember what set it was and also that set didnt have a problem with overdrive vanishing and reapearing.

and finaly i know i should have overdrive becuse i have a X800 Pro with the LM61 Temp Sensor on it. so please ati fix that aswell.

here is another bug i have found in the catylist CC.
when ever i start it up it will display the ATI Catylist logo then it will vanish and just as the CCC is trying to load i see it for about 1 split second then it vanishes :????
i have to reboot my system for it to work again becuse everytime it does the same thing, this happens at random times that the CCC doesnt display.

I would like to see some more specific game optimizations that can be activated. So you can turn on the HL2 optimizations and HL2 will run better, then the same for Doom 3 etc. Also a performance boost would be nice, not anything big just, ya know.

Also I would like a feature that makes the 9600xt magically run like an x850, that would be nice, not sure if it will make it into the final cut

Unlike The Nvidia version number guessing game, you KNOW that Catalyst version 5.8 will be followed by 5.9 - unless they come to some reason to give it a new major version (eyes down for 6.0 ? ).

So, what do you expect / hope for in 5.9 is a legitimate question

ATI really needs custom resolution and custom timing support similar to what Nvidia has. At the very least PLEASE make it so we don't have to be in an HDTV resolution to make a custom resolution and PLEASE make it so the custom resolutions don't jump in increments of 16 and 4. For example, with the current custom resolution interface I can't make a custom resolution of 1680 x 1050 because the height value jumps in increments of 4.

Also ATI what about adding CUSTOM GAMEING PROFILES.
Like what Nvidia Has where it has optimizations for all types of games instead of one setting for ALL TYPES OF GAMES.

come on your getting left behind here.....

that the sort of thing you want? so it come down to whos optuimzations
are better? Not who cards or drivers are better? its not a "GOOD thing"

Thanks to NV there is no long longer any fair basis for compairson anyways
game bechmarks? syntehics are the only ones that at lest have some
policeing and fairness. Yet everyone relys on... drumroll.. games.
I guess it would help make it fairer compairing ATI VS NV to do that...

Its not ideal, but you can do that with powerstrip.

Im not talking about Profiles with games AA and AF optimized im talking about the type of games where some changes to ati`s driver engine may run good on one game but not the other, at the minute ati are optimizeing the driver for all games but wouldnt it be better to have set profiles for games where when selected they get optimized to the fullest then that way all you have to add are the normal 3d Settings that are already there.....

i hope ya get what i mean heh

Yes, but I want to be able to use a higher pixel clock at 1680 x 1050 (because my LCD screen has a slight display issue at it's EDID pixel clock). However, for some completely asinine reason ATI decided to make the horizontal resolution jump in increments of 16 and the vertical resolution jumps in increments of 4. This is also a problem because you can't fine tune overscan. Their is absolutely NO reason for this, you should be able to hold down the shift key and adjust the resolution in increments of 8 and 2 if you want. Also, you can't create a custom resolution based on a 1080p format (this would be trivial to implement). The whole custom resolution creator in the CCC is really cheesy because it has these pointless limitations.

Powerstrip works but it has it's own set of problems, and should not be necessary. I could go on but suffice to say, Nvidia's drivers blow away ATI's in terms of features.

it is possible, but it does not work very well at all. I tried it and it was a very clunky way to do do it. Sometimes the PC would not start up in the correct mode, etc..

All they need to do is like Omega does.. He just offers more resolutions that are compatible with your monitor.. Example- 1200 x 900.. for a 17inch monitor that supports it.

I am stuck with 1152 x 864.. @ 75hz with CAT's and I can do 1200 x 900 @ 75 hz with Omega's. Might not seem like a big deal, but to get the most out of your monitor, it would be nice.

Also- why they don't have something like this is beyond me.

IF I recall on the last time I updated my parent's PC with my old NV card in there- the NV drivers had a menu similar to that. ATI needs to do that.
