??? ATi CP disappearing

Hi,

for some weeks now I've had a problem with ATi's Catalyst Control Panel disappearing on several installations of Windows XP (on the same computer, that is). I haven't been able to pinpoint the cause, so I'm asking if somebody here has encountered the same...

Where the Advanced Display Settings of the first display should usually have a bunch of ATi tabs, I only get the vanilla Windows XP tabs, looking like a virginal installation of Windows XP:

After installing the drivers, I had all the ATi tabs, but somewhere along the way they got lost. As I said, I have no clue what may have caused this...

Help, anyone?!

System Specs

Donator
I've had this happen before, i would try a nice clean install.

Get Driver Cleaner http://www.drivercleaner.net/

Uninstall ATI stuff you see in the CP. Restart in Safe mode, Run Driver Cleaner (select ATI filter)

Make sure etherent is unplugged, restart back in normal windows. Cancel all the "new hardware found"

Install the 5.8s (or whatever u want) with the CP.

Test it out

Ben

As seen in the screenshot, I have the newest Omega-Driver installed. I think it's happened with the ATi v5.5 (Omega) as well, I'm not entirely sure though.

I'll try it out, at least it'll be interesting to see whether it works again after reinstalling... Although obviously it's not exactly the solution I'm looking for; kind of like re-installing Windows every time you get a bluescreen

*sigh* I posted screenshots, gave a pretty detailed description of what doesn't work... I'm not a total rookie concerning Windows. I do know about CCC. And I'm not interested in using it, or I'd be using it and not complaining about a missing CCP...
