These drivers are unfortunately slower then DNA's drivers (even when it's not set to ultra).

What is the device ID of your card?

This is because you already have the patch applied. The patch was also offered no the DHzp 5.6 set, so if you used that set you already got the patch.

Did you used driver cleaner pro before installing our drivers? How was the IQ on the games you played?

look it up in the device manager:
right click my computer -> properties -> hardware -> device manager
open "display adapters" & right click the radeon 9600/9700 -> details

that's where the control panel pulls it from anyways, i think

Yes, Driver Cleaner Pro was ran. IQ is the same. Of course, my eyes is not too good for looking out for tiny differences like that, but they are roughly the same. In games, I get a tiny bit more suttering with these drivers then DNA's.

Hopefully that will change.

Hey, I've got the same Sapphire X800XT PE as you and had the same problem (and same device ID FYI).
As for every driver install since 5.5 (original 5.6, 5.7) this install didn't go smooth either:
When installing via Device manager and pointing to the driver folder when it was done copying files for secondary my screen went all grey/black checkered.
I rebooted and ran the setup.exe from the DHzer0point folder (not driver folder), secondary was installed fine, but primary wasn't so I did it the Device Manager way. My screen went blank when it was done copying files, I blindly rebooted and everything is fine. Dunno what happened, but looks like all is Ok.
I'm now off testing BF2.

FYI: the problems I had with 5.6 and 5.7 original was missing files during installation, 5.8 original was slow for me in BF2.
BTW, I did not disable the PCI latency thingy, does this mean it has been installed even though the normal installation procedure was aborted?
And what does it do exactly?

This is no negative post guys, just trying to give you as much feedback as possible, thanks for all the hard work. I can't wait for the Optimized BF2 set

BTW I did uninstall my previous 5.5 driver set the regular way and used the latest and live-updated Driver Cleaner PE in safe mode to remove every ATI file and manually deleted the ATI(2) folders and ATI Technologies(2) folders which were there because of a system restore. FYI: the original ATI Technologies folder was still present in my Program Files although it was empty.

Thumbs Up!

Hey,

Seems like Radlinker HAS been installed, yes

Anyway I've been doing some thorough BF2 testing with various settings this last few hours, hope this helps you with optimizing the drivers for BF2:

The test:
Gulf of Oman: driving around a buggy the same path every time for a few rounds.
Hardware:
nF2 mobo (DFI LP), 2500+ mobile @ 2Ghz (200x10), 2GB RAM, X800XT PE stock

Freshly optimized shaders after driver installation.

Ingame settings for all tests (this is how I always play):
Resolution: 1280x1024
Terrain: Medium
Effects: High
Geometry: High
Textures: High
Lightning: Medium
Dynamic Shadows: Medium
Dynamic Lightning: Medium
Anit-Aliasing: 2x
Texture Filtering: High
View Distance: 100%

First of all with the previous 5.5 drivers I was using I had to set the ATi drivers to "Application Controlled" to have AA ingame. So I didn't change anything now since this was the default setting.

Results: no AA ingame, (that's why I thought the original 5.8 sucked also I guess, at that time I didn't test it much). Since I have Fraps always running I noticed frames between 40 and 90, constantly going up and down, there were sometimes hickups from 1 sec (the same you have in the beginning of a round normally when a lot of people join at the same time). Not playable.

Next I forced the ATi drivers to 6xAA/16xAF:

Results: Great AA ingame and a steady FPS between 70 and 80
(Tested also with ingame settings all @ high (w/ re-optimized shaders), steady FPS between 60 and 70).

Next I forced the ATi drivers to 4xAA/8xAF, BUT also enabled Temporal AA and got a funny result:
AA ingame still working, but the FPS was limited to EXACTLY 60 constantly.
Edit: it has come to my attention that TAA doesn't work below 60 FPS, but it didn't exceed 60 either.

Also tested 4xAA/8xAF w/o Temporal AA and this gave the same result as 6xAA/16xAF.

So far now the optimal results are 4xAA/8xAF to be on the safe side w/o Temp AA.

Enough testing for now, time to get some sleep

BTW I changed the settings in the control panel, I did not use Radlinker to change the settings.

OK, thanks for the excellent feedback guys. Right now we're looking to fix the installation problems with the x800 cards. So hopefully we will fix these before the next set.

When you use Temporal AA, some kind of Vertical Sync is applied. I'm guessing you are using TFT which has a 60 Hz refreshrate setting by default (as it is irrelevant for TFT's). As I am a CRT user myself, I don't know if you can increase your refreshrate. If you can increase your refreshrate you will notice that your max FPS will have the same value.

Beware, the refreshrate bug in Windows (at least, I think it is a Windows bug) resets your refreshrate to 60 when entering graphic (game) mode. So you'll have to get around that bug to make sure that the in-game refreshrate is the same as the one you setup in Windows (2D) mode. You can fix this bug in the driver under Displays --> Choose the relevant Display --> Force refresh (or something like that) to 85 Hz for example.

Yeah I've got a TFT indeed although it can do both 60 and 75Hz, but that's probably the reason TAA locks it to 60Hz.

I'm aware of that bug, since a while there's indeed an option in the ATi drivers to force a higher refreshrate although I've always used Refreshlock myself (100Hz @ 1280x1024). But that's not relevant anymore since I have a TFT now.

About my tests, like I said I noticed fluctuating FPS when the ATi drivers were set to app controlled, when I forced AA in the drivers those fluctuations went away. Someone I know has also been testing these drivers and he's still using the app controled setting in the ATi drivers and he has no problems whatsoever in BF2 (IIRC he's got an X850XT).

Last night I've been playing with the settings I said were the best settings and BF2 played fine, IQ is better IMHO, one thing that's not right is the console in BF2, the text is all scrambled now so it becomes unreadable. Will test again when I have the time with the app controlled setting to see if this makes a difference.

I installed your drivers.. No gains either no better IQ.

But I respect your hard work and your drivers did uninstall easily.

I like to try different sets of drivers and I ll try your next release so keep up your hard work...

Really great to have many modders... This is why I like DH

I just installed the DHzer0point 0.58 drivers on my system.
Loaded up BF2 and turned all the detail upto high. It is running great, nice and smooth, but, whenever someone throws a grenade at me and the screen is suppost to go all fuzzy all I get is screen corruption then as the dizzines fades the regular image comes back.
I was hopeing someone could tell me which setting in the driver I would need to change to correct the problem.

I have an AMD Athlon XP3000+ 1 Gb Ram and an ATI X700 AGP with 128Mb Ram.

Just to let you know I was using an old Omega driver and had no trouble with this but it did run a lot slower.

I installed the Omega 2.6.71 (5.9) yesterday and my computer kept on locking up everytime I tryed to start the machine. I had to get in via Safe Mode and uninstall the drivers and go back to Version 2.6.25a which was the last omega driver to use radlinker. I never had any trouble with it.
I only found the DHzer0point driver while I was trying to find a solution to the lockups.
I will try and get some screen shots and post them tomorrow.

I'm not sure but probably a post processing effect somewhere perhaps somewhere in the game.... not terribly familiar with BF2

OK if you go here I have put up 4 screen shots.
01 shows the screen before the hand grenade goes off.
02 shows the screen after the hand grenade has exploded near me
03 shows the effect starting to go back to normal
04 shows everything back to normal.

One thing I did notice on 02 is that the mini map in the upper right corner and the text in the upper left corner are unaffected by this.

For those of you that dont know BF2, what is suppost to happed is an effect as if you went dizzy from the shock of the grenade the screen goes blurry and its hard to aim, but you can still see enough to run and take cover. When the screen goes like it does now I cant see anything and I am just a sitting duck.
