Chipset and Video card do not like each other
I just got my RMA back from my broken x800xt, and now it seems to work 90% of the time. The problem occurs when I try and install the nforce 3 GART drivers. If I install stated drivers, I get horrible graphincal corruption (Vertical White lines, etc.). When I first got my PC around 9 months ago and had original new x800xt, I installed the Nforce Agp drivers and everything worked fine. Until I installed the new drivers, I had in game stuttering and lower 3d marks. Is there anything I can do to help safely install my agp drivers without getting corruption, or is mobo/vid card broken? I really want to avoid another RMA, since my first one took 6 weeks to resolve.

I second that. It seems likely the AGP bus went out of whack and now when you try and install GART drivers it balks.

Oh yeah, I backed down OC a long time ago to stock( 1 month or so), still problems it seems. When I had the nvidia 5200 installed yesterday along with GART drivers, everything worked fine...

you stock clock both your CPU and RAM ? Tha FX5200 working does not mean anything because it is a less system punitive hardware ...

If a Nvidia card was installed on this system prior the x800xt i would suggest you a complete reformat .. sometimes it s the only way to fix it .

Yeah, did that too. Ill still try something, but if nothing works I guess Ill just have to use it w/o the agp driver, but I would have thought that neither card would work if the mobo was broken and couldnt use the driver.
I also used an older version of the nvidia driver and still does not work?

Your chipset drivers are probably turning on fastwrites or sideband addressing...something that your graphics card doesnt like.
After you install your chipset drivers, go into your ATi control panel, and switch some of that stuff of(or turn it on) This is a simple problem I'm sure.....you'll get it

Where'd you hear that?In the Socket A days the nF2 and a Radeon 9700 Pro was THE killer combo.... and ATI chipsets didn't exist. Besides they should work together, an AGP slot is an AGP slot more or less, and they both have to be designed to fit the same spec anyway. |
