9200 + Widscreen + Omega Catalyst 5.8 == BAAAD

Hi

I have an Presario X1000 (Well the exact model is: X1401Ap ... or something), with a very anoying radeon 9200 video chip. For a long time I was able to tame the savage beast with the Omega drivers, until that one fatefull night when I decided to update my omega video drivers to 5.8. It installed fine and seem to detect everything fine, however once I restart it, my screen is no longer a 15.4" widescreen but rather detected as a standard 15" screen. It get worse since it would appear that the video buffer is still set to a widescreen video buffer, hence every line of video in the wide screen buffer get copied over to the screen where it takes up 1 and 1/8 lines on the screen. i.e about 2 lines where there should be 1.

In the mean time I've tried several things like: Flushing the video bios .... didnt do much since the latest images was allready on there. Flushed the mother board bios, just in case there was some tricky setup that made it detect wrong. Manually installed the screen driver, and well .... that didnt help to much either. Curently I'm trying "kicking and screaming" at it, and will soon resolve to cracking the screen open and pouring molten metal in it .... Unless anoyone have an idea or suggestions as to what can possibly be the problem? (Also be good if any one knows how to fix the problem.)

Any help will be greately appreciated. (Note I did search throught the forum in an attempt to find previous occurances of this error, I couldn't find much, sorry if I missed it.)
