??? Omega driver 5.8, OpenGL and AA

Recently installed the new Omega's based in the 5.8 drivers. Running Lightwave, Poser 6, modo and Starry Night. All those programs happen to use OpenGL. I notice that whenever I run them; the OpenGL is being displayed with what looks like AA turned on. Thing is AA is set to 'Application Control'. At least it is in both the control panel AND ATI Tray Tools.

So what gives? I know some of those apps let you turn on AA for some elements in OpenGL; but not all. Seems the OpenGL is stuck on some setting and nothing I do changes that. And it's slowing stuff down.

Can anyone else confirm this?

TIA

System Specs

Open in ATT Hardware->System Information
Look for Catalyst registry path
Open regedit.exe and navigate to that path
Look for LineAAEnabled, if it will be 1 set it to 0 or just delete it.
Restart windows.

Hmm..didn't work.

But I did see the setting and set it to "0". Must be some other setting that's doing this. Looks like everything is AA not just lines. For example the text in the windows is also AA. Or it looks like AA. The text looks like there are two copies of it. One offset from the other. Maybe it is Anisotropic Filtering

Looks like I may have to install the default 5.8 and figure out the root of this.

Thanks again

3.8? You mean 5.8 cats? I have also had lots of problems with AA and AF control in the past with Omega + ATT for some reason. Had to completely remove 5.7 Omegas.. It seems to be better for me with 5.8 though.

Yes sorry 5.8. The Omega 5.7 worked fine..but with Catalyst 5.8 installed now; there's really no point going backwards.

The only real issue I've had with Catalyst 5.7 & 5.8 they've really screwed up Color Management. They seem to pick and choose when they apply the default color profile for my monitor (that I set with the Spyder 2 monitor calibration device)

Switch screen modes and it will apply the default color profile. Anything else that takes place within the same screen modes and it doesn't. It's just gotten worse unfortunately.

the omega drivers are optimised for either quality or performance, or both,.. can't remember,.. but its probably just using a higher lod bias thats all
