Adding custom resolution with X800XL? (1280x800)

Hi,

I've got an X800XL and a Dell 2005FPW running on WinXPSP2. I've been playing some Half-Life 2 but I don't think it runs smooth enough at the native resolution of my LCD (1680x1050) and I'd like to switch to a lower resolution. Unfortunately, the next lowest setting in the HL2 16:10 dropdown is 1280x768, which is a ratio of 1.66:1, not 1.60:1.

Do you know how I can add 1280x800 to my video cards list of supported resolutions? I tried installing the Omega 2661 driver that I found on these forums, but I still don't have the option of 1280x800. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Update:

I've tried using the " -width 1280 -height 800" command line addition and it seems like it should work, but I get an error. Can't remember what exactly it said. I think the problem is that if I look at "Display Properties > Settings > Advanced > Adapter > List All Modes" 1280x800 isn't on the list. I'm hoping that I can figure out a way to add it to that list, then HL2 will "see" it as an option.

Also, for the most part this isn't a big deal. I've already played through about a third of the game in 1280x768 and it's been very enjoyable. It's just that now that I know that there's an option for the screen ratio to be perfect, it bugs me that I can't use it.

Also, HL2 has separate resolution lists for the ratios of 16:9 (1.777:1) and 16:10 (1.600:1) and there's only a 10% difference between those.

When I play at 1280x768 (1.666:1) on my 1.600:1 monitor, the game is stretched vertically about 4% to fill the screen. Either that or I can have it not stretched and get little black bars on the top and bottom, but that's lame, too.
