Default Post Where did all the 9x users go???

WOW...the 9x/ME users are no where to be found?

I know! They must be loving the 9030 driver set and are playing games instead of browsing through this forum!

Well...to all, have a good time here (once you decide to stop playing/tweaking/modding your Radeon cards! Hope you find this forum enjoyable and very informative.

A warm hug from me to all of you!!!

I think it's also because everyone seems to be 'upgrading' to 2k/XP.. bah! =)

But i'm glad -- the 9030 set seems to be carrying everyone around now and
everyone is having a good time. Even @ Rage3D, there aren't many (if any) complaints
with the new drivers!

Well,
I still haven't tried the 9026's released a month ago. Toss me in the ring though as a W98 user, experimenting with XP on the same machine (dual boot) containing a Sapphire Radeon 7500. As of two days ago, I was granted the opportunity to fiddle until I drop with a machine having the Mobility Radeon 16M chip, so I'll chime in on occasion for sure.
Good to see all the experience here in one place lending their talents.

I still like 98SE! And I really like Omega's most recent 2.4.30 drivers. They make an incredible difference in performance and quality for me over leaked 9030s and even the official 9031s. I installed the 9031s last night and played RTCW. IQ and FPS is much better with Omega's drivers. I switched back and there is an obvious difference.

Default Post Hi guys

Hey, I'm here, clutching my WinME system defensively. As Charlton Heston says, "...from my cold, dead fingers...."

I tried the 2.4.30's and Morrowind got very grumpy, so I went back to the 1.4.21's. Happy for now.

Omegadrive - planning a 2.4.31 release?

Default Post ...another Win 9x user speaks up...

Hey All,

Just found this forum tonite and must say, I'm glad to see that not everyone has given in to the XP thing... I still like 9x...stability wise, no major issues yet... Seems to me that XP still
has a ways to go before it really starts to deliver on the 'hype'.

Indeed. I have 2 machines running XP (belonging to both my older brother and my
younger brother). Nothing I see worth upgrading to except slower reboot and login
times -- even from a clean installation. Fairly strong machines (1.2ghz) coupled with
DDR and still, it feels as if my system is faster with my 'lowly' PC100 ram.

I'm not at home this weekend, but as soon as I get there I'll update the drivers to the 9031 release.

BTW, I need some bechmarks on the OpenGL side of the drivers, preferably Quake 3, RTCW, MoHAA and some others, between the "regular" 9030 and 9031 drivers.

I won't have time to test them, that's why I ask you to do me this favor, I want to know
how to mix my next release.

I'll also want to know if there are any fixes changing to the 9031 drivers, like games now running, TV out problem, etc.

Thanks for any help.

I am just glad that ATI and others are developing stable drivers for the Win9x platform. Just in case anyone's wondering, I still stick to Win98 SE for my primary machine, and my damn HD just can't handle more damn M$ bloatware...increasing in size with both useful and useless features.

Until I get my my hands on Windows .NET, maybe might be able to replace the trusty ol' Win2K.

Truth with XP is that without a clean install/NTFS partition = slow as hell.

I'll raise my hand and be counted also. I'll switch to XP when all the bugs are worked out, like TotalXS said, in about 3 years.

...and I have been playing games, just like you thought. I'm like a kid running in for a glass of Kool-Aid in the summer. New drivers come out. I run in, gulp them down, then out the door I go. There are evil Jedi and Nazi's to kill. Damn, I think their taking over again! Gotta go....
