9600 Problems

I am about to take a ball pein hammer to this card. LOL. Whenever I try to update drivers on this card I have problems. I remove all the old ATI stuff, remove the drivers and then try to load the new ones. It doesn't matter whether it is ATI or Omega I get a "set up device with standard VGA driver" error. If I go to the I will choose driver section there are nothing but Mobile ATI Drivers shown and this is a desktop computer. I have tried everything that is already listed on here. The only solution seems to be to completely wipe my HD and reload everything which of course isn't a very good answer. ATI will say nothing more than this is a problem with 9600 cards and they have no intention of fixing it. I get really tired of spending two days fixing everything each time there is a driver update. Anyone got any suggestions before I beat this card to death and go by an Invidia? Thanks

Shut down your computer, get the 9600SE out of it and replace it with another card. start windows, uninstall every ATi-stuff you can and reboot once again. shut down win again, re-enter your 9600SE and boot your machine. reinstall drivers and see what's happening.
I think ther might have been a drivers install with failures so uninst etc. don't work properly. And take a look at your mobo's AGP settings: whicht speed (1x, 2x, 4x, 8x) is set?

The 9600se is sh*tf*ckd*mnb*llsh*t - if you're a player at least. I gave it to my brother after a few months and bought myself a 9600pro... a looooooot better!

Today I read, for AGP-based PCs currently NVidia 6800 is best - at least here in germany - because it's price is almost equal to 6600GT but a lot faster. And price should be around 150,- EUs

Kraizee
