Noob Error... Help?

Hi... i was updating drivers and used drivercleanerpro, unfortunately i believe i deleted some important system file... is there anyway to reinstall it or get it back? Ideas??? Here is the error command that I am getting... the display actually works fine though, its just the annoying popup @ every start up.... any help would be great! Thanks!

When you ran drivercleaner, did you run it in safe mode? Also, I believe there is a restore feature in drivercleaner under "Tools / Restore" (ctrl+R). Give that a shot. Make sure you read the directions when running drivercleaner.

i think thats ati tray tools. just ignore it till you install drivers or remove it from your startup list.

Here is the log of what the cleaning i origionally ran... im not sure what would have cuased this... btw... how do u run the restore thing on drivercleaner?? U have to have a back up already right??? I sadly didnt do that... any ideas? Maybe the first line here? as it is the (C:\WINDOWS\Inf\Ati*.inf) that i believe the cats were complaining about... if so how could i restore it???

just noticed ChoGGi mentioned to remove traytools from start up... why? U dont use it?

On a side note- do u think the ati 5.11 or the omega 5.10a would be better?

the igp entries are for ati chipset drivers (motherboards not video cards).
that screenshot you showed is probably from att. it gives a message like that if you dont have video drivers installed and you run it.

as for the backup i think you need to go into tools>settings>backup and enable before it does backups.

well finally got around to trying 5.11 again and got screen shots of the diff erros... any ideas??

just had an idea... would it be because i dont have .Net 1.1? I have .Net 2 and i thought that would be backwards compatable etc... is it? I had that kind of problem before but the error message came at start up, not when i was installing and i dont think it had anything to do with INF... dunno...

also with the 5.11 what is WDM? I doubt i need it but it comes with the package...

I would suggest that you uninstall whatever you have at the moment. Then, reboot the computer and let Windows install its default drivers for your video card. Let it complete this. Then, reboot the system once again and proceed to install whatever drivers you wish. I do like Omega's 5.10a drivers. If you install those, along with the ATT you'll likely get rid of all those errors.

That first one: 'low level device' is definitely the ATT app not finding the installed matching video drivers for it.

i have stock x600 drivers on now and no error messages are popping up... i tried to do the fix #5 from the link u gave Cho but i didnt get the option of a standard video driver but instead just a list a various ATI models.... I tried to install 5.11 with the stock x600's on but the INF error is still there... wouldnt that INF error need fix #3 from the link u posted? Do I need .Net 1.1 or is .Net 2 ok? Are they backwards compatable? Would that be the issue?

The omegas were working ok the only issue was that when I tried to go into standby with powerplay on "optimized for batterly life" then it would either not go into standby or the screen would get washed out + other random problems... otherwise i would have stayed with omega... the're great otherwise... hopefully the 5.11 dont have that problem...

if you look on the ati download page it gives a lower speed download option (below the regular one) where you can choose what you want to download.
"i tried to do the fix #5 from the link u gave Cho but i didnt get the option of a standard video driver but instead just a list a various ATI models."
it should be there try moving any oem*.inf or oem*.pnf in your windows\inf folder

"wouldnt that INF error need fix #3 from the link u posted?"
maybe but the message is a little different, if you want to goto device manager>display adapter>your video card properties>details tab> and copy/paste your hardware id, then i could check to see if you need to add support for your card.

"Do I need .Net 1.1 or is .Net 2 ok? Are they backwards compatable? Would that be the issue?" other then some annoying programs that want you to have v1.1 installed while you install them you dont need it.

"The omegas were working ok the only issue was that when I tried to go into standby with powerplay on "optimized for batterly life" then it would either not go into standby or the screen would get washed out + other random problems"
no idea

Not sure what u meant by:
try moving any oem*.inf or oem*.pnf in your windows\inf folder
what oem*.inf or oem*.pnf ? Create them?

dont worry bout the standby thing... just a problem omega and my vid card was having... hence i tried to change... it works fine w. stock drivers... dont know why there is an issue but there is...

dont the catalysts need .NET 1.1? or at least the CC... ?

thx for ur help!

heres the hardware id:

sorry i should have been a bit more clear.
whenever you install a driver and the inf isnt in windows\inf then it'll make a copy of it called oem??.inf (?? are numbers). pnf files stand for Precompiled Setup Information. they are created during the driver install.
they'll show up when you try to manually install the drivers, if you move them elsewhere or delete them they wont.
well it seems your card isnt in them so i guess you'll have to do #3. the easiest way is to copy the info from another inf. omega 2.6.75a (cat 5.10a) have support for your card see if they work

whats the latest version of drivers that do work for you (omega or ati)?

well the omegas i had on ealier - 5.9 worked ok... (still issue w. standby put gfx wise they worked fine) the stock ones i have are also working fine... though im not sure what verison of ati they would be... old i imagine.

so i have 2 get the .inf files from a previous installation of the omega cat 9 that worked? and the place them in the windows/inf? is that only if i want to use the omegas? or would that be ok 4 the ati 5.11 aswell?

do you think the inclusion of wdm in what i was installing would even be the issue? i downloaded the 5.11 drivers and CC seperately and can try installing it that way... but i doubt it will make a dif...

would it be important to note that the omegas installed fine and didnt have the INF error? Not sure...

this exact same thing happened to me when i tried to install dh zeropoint drivers 0.511.i tried everything i could think of to fix it.chipset driver reinstall, full reg restore, search for anything ati and att related.the full dh drivercleaner pro 1.2 step by step.i went through the same uninstall procedure as i have for years with no probs until this release.i finally said screw it and reinstalled windows.i posted my probs on the zeropoint thread with no responce so i had nothing else i personally could have done.if i could rewrite drivers then i would not need to work in a warehouse.i am glad to know i am not the only person with these error messages, sry for your despair and i hope you have better luck than i did.later

by the way welcome to dh,it is a good place to hang and all the techs usually help out in a timely matter if they can.zardon is a really cool host that gave me a break way back a few years ago when i got out of line about something that i dont even recall now.
ya,once the errors occured i tried reverting back to omegas and cats and even tried the ngo optomized with no luck.i followed the basic uninstall procedure as explained in dhdcpro 1.2 and posted all over these forums.i even go a step further and do a search with regseeker 1.45 for anything ati and whatever my tweaking app is at the time.i know there is nothing left behind because windows asks me to do a search for drivers at restart.it really screwed me up because i had a bunch of stuff i was selling on craigslist with emails by the minute and i had to do an emergency reinstall of xp.didnt get much sleep that night.i think from now on i am not going to be one of the first people to try out new drivers on the hour they are released.especially when i post a problem on the official thread of that driver and get no responce when i know the mods were answering all the hey dude your drivers rock posts.later

thx... yeah seems like a very nice forum... lots of replies and support for a simple driver issue... well not that simple but still its nice 2 see the support.... yeah im with u on the idea that testing drivers b4 they get a chance 2 fix it up is usually not so great... specially after this.. O_O but im somewhat happy with stock... though i havent played anygames with it yet since i went from omega cat 9s to stock... so ill c the change... but i doubt it will be HUGE... :hope: at leats my !@)#($)( standby works now... btw what drivers r u using now??

This is a confusing thread , but the short of a good portion of it had to do with ATI Tray Tools not being uninstalled before starting the whole procedure.

Good to see though that you've got things running now (I'm running the Official Catalyst 5.11 now - like 'em) and when you decide to change again give this thread a read:

Cannot Load Low Level Device Driver...

and this thread as a primer...

Uninstall b4 Install

and Choggi's thread is great as well.

All those together should give you quite a bit of direction before you start your next installtion procedure.

also swimtech
setting my card back to stock and uninstalling att is always the first thing i do.also i set my sys oc back to stock before i uninstall or install any driver whether it be sound, graphics,or chipset.i have followed the same uninstall procedure for a very long time and have never had this problem before now.
