I'm back up on the new drivers after disabling system recovery. I did get an unannounced reboot through the reinstall process, but stuck with the drivers this time. I did some minor "testing" without problems. I'll report back.

40GB & 80GB HDD's
ATI Radeon 8500
HP L1720 DVI flat panel
ECS K7s5a w/latest BIOS
XP sp1 & post sp1 (pre sp2) patches
DirectX 9

Using DX9 And newer 3.0 Cats....

Drome Racers will install and boot fine, I can get to all the menu screens.

When trying to start a race, the game will frequently go to a black screen and HARD-LOCK. I have to hit the reset button to clear it.

Quite annoying since I just bought the game 2 days ago. When it does play, it runs smooth. Lots of fun!! Too bad it locks all the time.....

Neverending lockups fixed

Ok, did multiple reinstalls and still had lockups in NWN and with my Winfast 2000 tv deluxe card(only when recording). So I reinstalled Xp (yet again) but this time also disable APIC in bios which after testing over weekend did the trick. Can play NWN, but I used Catalyst 2.5 for testing(NWN choppy and slow) just updated to Omega's 2.3.55 and everything worked great. Tried recording with Tv Card and worked somewhat I think it is actully software related so i used PowerVCR II Deluxe 3.0 and had zero lockups....Will not use Catalyst 3.0a or directx 9 because system is now stable and fast and imaged....

Medieval Total War is screwed with the new drivers & directx 9 on my PC. Half the screen wasn't displaying correctly in the menus, so I didn't try to play. After exiting and going into my display properties, the PC rebooted. I'll try more later...

Disabled vertical sync, no more problems in Medieval Total War. Everything else seems smooth with the latest Cat 3 drivers...

So it turns out that the damn white flash... might have been Trillian disliking having its contact list resized. If I remember to hide it before starting the proggy, I don't think I see it. D'oh!
