I've heard that dotnet 2.0 doesn't work with this CCC version?
Do i have to rollback to 1.1?

All those requirements for a control panel, unbelievable. When is Adobe photoshop required too? Maybe the CCC will open faster in Adobe than it normally does.

I could not get it to load with .Net 2.0; it would just sit at the load screen(had no issues with the previous CCC) Still, even using 1.1 it seems to be quite a bit faster than even the last ccc with .net 2.0

No problem here with .NET 2.0. On this system I have only .NET 2.0 installed, though 1.1 can be installed at the same time in most cases(depending on what .NET softwares are being used).

6 for me on the ccc, there getting better though i give it that if only they would fix 3 things for me i would give them a 10

1: use less resorces
2: .net 2.0 has been official for a wile now so why use 1.1 ? its a no brainer lol
3: give us a higher overclock for x1800XT owners the bars only go as high as 695core 800 memory and also a fan setting intergrated into the overdrive would be sweet.
4: faster startup, the CCC seems fast when you first open it, but when you keep opening it after time on the system it gets slower and slower the longer your OS is up and the more times you open it.

fix all those and it gets a 10 from me lol i know its not 3 things but all those would make me happy and a lot of other users aswell

Yeah, I like this month's CCC, it's way faster, even compared to the 5.11's. And I use .net 2.0.

Still takes 30 seconds to open the CCC from the desktop and another 15-20 after that.

I gave it a 4.

Some observations after a system upgrade:

Xp2500+1gigram 30 seconds to load, causes system slowdown especially when changing game profiles. Doesnt always load during startup.

3500+1gigdualchannel
loads much faster at startup (barely noticable), 15-30 seconds to open CCC from desktop, still very slow to change app profiles

By the time ATi tweaks CCC enough to be more responsive the majority will have faster PC's and not notice how slow it can be. I've got no choice to use it though since MOH:Spearhead will not run unless AI is on...CP and Omegadrivers out of the question.

I give it an 8.

One thing I found odd is that it used .NET 2.0 on my bedroom PC, but not on the other PC I installed the 5.12's on (both PC's are about the same thing too.) I was forced to reinstall .NET 1.1 on the downstairs one before CCC would boot past the splash screen.

So I knocked a couple points off for that flakiness. Otherwise, I'm not having any problems with CCC.

Its not as easy as that, things have to be changed and recoded to use the functionality of .NET 2.0

Gets a 1 from me for trying to force it down our throats. As far as I am concerned there is no advantage to the CCC over the CP and there is the disadvantage of wasted resource and delay to change simple driver options. CCC (10-20 seconds for the app to load) CP (5 seconds to get anywhere I want to be)

<rant>
Why is there a need to do it with an external program? No other graphics co sees a need for this. nVidia does it in the advanced area, 3dfx did, intel does...why must ATi be different, or is that the only reason for it?

Gave CCC an 8, first load still takes 5-7 seconds, but the second load is under 1 second, and the CCC seems more responsive when changing settings. I have both .Net 1.1 and .Net 2.0 installed, so I probably dodged any problems that some people have run into.

CCC is tolerable, but I really wish that something as critical as the video driver did not have dependencies like .Net or require the user to keep 4-5 processes (cli + atievxx) running all of the time.

Had to install Net 1.1 to get it to work, not a major thing - but I already had Net 2.0 and it just stood there in the splashscreen with nothing happening...

Gave it a 7 for the improved responsiveness !

Tried the ccc with net1.1 but memory usage raised to 290-300MB compared to 180-200MB before. ATI put a lot of resources into this ccc project so i guess they cant just scrap it officially but cant they make a ccc light version that dont require net and got the same resource usage as the good old cp.

what about :

CCC Pro Users Edition

- all the bells and whistles
- for video enthusiasts and graphics pro's

CCC Gamers Lightweight Edition

- lightweight impact
- no net
- only relevant settings

I gave it a 6. No Problems with .net 2.0 but 3D-gamma-hotkeys are not working right since 5.11. Screen is only flashing brighter but then returns to the dark default
Gone back to the 5.10 CCC

When you say memory usage is 290-300mb you do know that it is only hard drive space right?

The footprint for actual ram usage is fairly low and from what I can tell its quick to release system ram when certain features are not being used.....

ATI will not want to fall behind Nvidia by hobbling peoples benchmarks from high system usage....

Pagefile usage right now typing this with cat 5.10 and cp is 205MB, while with 5.12 ccc it was 100MB higher (that is 305MB or more).

I gave it a 5 nothinh can piss you off more after a reformat than haveing to insatll/unistall a driver to get them to work properly.First I tryed the insatll of 5.12 w/CCC using the .net 2.0 noting I tryed would load the CCC,so I had to unisatll the 5.12's ,uninsatll .net 2.0 and try again this time loading the .net 1.1 w/service pack 1 and not the 2.0 and it finally worked.Ati you should scrape the CCC and go back to CP.Like my daddy used to say why fix it if it aint broke,

Translation to this case CP works why try and "fix" it by creating this CCC (Crap,Crap,Crap)

Trying 5.13 beta and CCC works better than before. Though i still miss integrated overclocking with possible 2D/3D mode (now i have to run ATT or ATiTool along CCC. Also it could be a bit faster and use less resources. Maybe when we'll reach Catalyst 7.12 we'll finally get good working CCC...

I have .net 2.0 and previous CCC versions worked fine for me. There is no official new version with the old CP to use either which means I have to revert to older drivers so it got "worst" rating from me.

They need to quit screwing with .net 1.1 and move to 2.0 developing on a buggy previous generation .net platform does not make any since anyway.

ATI should finally get the message and scrap that thing. Well, thank god there are the Ati Tray Tools. So for me it will be driver only downloads from now on, paired with the ATT. Meanwhile I vote this thing rock bottom, and I will continue to do so with every new version.
