Cat 5.13 will be a Christmas gift for ATI fanboys. It's also a way for ATI to end the year with a memoriable bang. Google around for info on what the Cat 5.13s will bring (btw, after these come out you watch Nvidia release PureVideo for free).

Indications are that we should see them Dec. 21rst.

Are you running .NET 1.1? 5.12 (and possibly 5.13) will not work with .NET 2.0 by itself for most users....NET 1.1 is specified as a requirement.

I have been running .net 2.0 and have no problems with previous CCC's but installed 1.1 and its patches now it works.

The 5.13 are only going to bring (from what I read) mostly changes for the X1k series (especially AVIVO) and I know that I won't be installing these But who knows?

w0rd ?

I wanna have a performance gain in my games !
Btw, it seems my card is damaged (due to high overclocking ) and I need a new one ...

Luckily, these are beta drivers and we don't know, yet, what ATI is going to ship out to us on Christmas. I'll start praying.

hmmm well these beta 5.13 drivers dont come with the transcoder tool
so i guess these are a early 5.13 beta...... wonder what more ati have got in store for us next week hmmmm

i would also like to see more gameing performance aswell as NFS MW SHADOWS FIXED.

also the transcodeing tool will we see XVID added to the list to vid formats to convert ????? its a pritty important vid that most people use for there movies ect....

also what would be good is Joining like if you have 2 XVID or SVCD files that need joined to make one hole movie that needs added aswell....

Ontop of what has been discussed:

- Transcoder tool is seperate with the betas.

- Encoding video is faster

- DXVA supported video software (like PowerDVD) will see improvment in video quality, and performance

- There are bug fixes (but you will have to wait until Wed/Thurs. to find out what unless a little birdy decides to drop by to let us know)(que - Terry)

- Added support for X1600 cards

That about sums it up.

If your not willing to try the drivers out to see for yourself if they fix problems with certain games then I say wait until Wednesday/Thursday for the official drivers, and the official release notes. Besides, in all likely hood you will switch to the official drivers from the betas anyways, so why not just wait?

I haven't tried the new driver yet, but if you load up PowerDVD, and go into the settings it'll tell you what type of video acceleration it is using. For that open up PowerDVD, then right-click the window, and select configuration from the menu (or select the hammer/screwdriver icon from the PowerDVD taskbar). Then select the "Information" tab. This will tell you what is being used. I should point out that since you won't be running a movie at the time it will show it as not in use, however if you load a movie, and then check it will be.

Edit: Know what? What the hell.. I think I might try these drivers out after all.

Is the DXVA acceleration only enabled if you don't have something else (such as divx 6) decoding the video?

Check it while your playing a movie. Also, make sure that under the Video tab that hardware acceleration is checked on.

hmm it works when i check that hardware acceleration tab problem is i loose there CLEV -2 Eagle Vision, wich is far better than there others, you see when its ticked CLEV gets blanked out

i dont think this powerdvd i have is FULLY AVIVO yet
becuse i tryed playing a H264 Apple trailer download and it wouldnt play it.
and why cant i get CLEV vision when i select hardware becuse you would think it would run super with hardware and that setting enabled. :/

Features like CLEV in software DVD players like PowerDVD and WinDVD are usually mutually exclusive with hardware acceleration, i.e., they don't work/are greyed out.

Um... no.... aside from OpenGL improvements.. i doubt we'll see anything more coming from the r3xx series at all... enless there are some obvious performance problems in some newer games/or older)...

Personally I'd rather have the nicer hardware acceleration than the artificially contrased image CLEV produces

well i just found out that you have to pay for POWERDVD`s

MPEG 4 AVC (H.264) Pack = $24,95 this sucks
Install MPEG 2/4 AAC Pack = $19,95 thi sucks

so much for ATI working with POWERDVD, but still ATI customers get screwed becuse POWERDVD are so greedy and require us X1800XT owners to buy there shit.
